White-Warren Sample Sale

I’ve always found some great basic knits at the White + Warren sample sale.  The two-day sale opened to the public at 8am (great for those of us who work during the day!).  Just a few minutes into the sale and the showroom across from Bryant Park was packed.

Let me start with the samples.  Those of you who’ve been here before know that they keep the samples in boxes inside a separate room.  There were plenty of customers in that room looking for deals (accessories at $10, tees at $15, non-cashmere $25, cashmere $35, accessories $10). Already the selection was thinning out.

Shoppers will find plenty of production pieces in the main room of the showroom. The staffers are very organized and know how to run a sample sale.  They had different styles on hangers on display and the sizes folded wrapped in plastic on tables.  If you like a style and couldn’t find your size, just ask and it’s likely that they have it in a box below.

Lots of selection here and perfect for the spring/summer season. I noticed many of the items at this sale can be found on the label’s website at the regular price. There were racks of sleeveless and tank dresses ($40) in a slew of colors (orange tulip, blue splash, flint and more).  Non-cashmere and cotton sweaters were tagged at $50, cashmere sweaters which are always popular were $100.  A group of women huddled over the table that carried travel wraps ($150) – some of them walked out with one or two.

This is always a great place for gifts.  Just in time for Mother’s Day, I managed to pick up a couple of light-weight woven scarves in great colors and prints (one for $50, two for $80).  While I didn’t have much time to spend at this sale, I did notice that many of the shoppers (including me) this morning scored great finds.  Sale ends tomorrow at 2pm.

Where/When:  80 West 40th Street, 3rd Floor (b/w 5th & 6th Aves), NY, NY; April 18-19; Thurs (8am-7pm), Fri (8am-2pm).
