The 7 For All Mankind first-ever sample sale opens to the public Friday and goes through the weekend.  I checked out the goods yesterday during the invitation-only preview.  A steady stream of shoppers came in but it wasn’t mobbed.  Perhaps the calm before today’s storm?

There’s a lot of denim on offer – an assorted selection of colors, cuts and washes for both women and men – separated by size on racks that almost stretch the length of the large room.  The jeans are going for $80.  In the back, there are boxes of irregular/damaged denim going for $65.  Sale organizers will be dropping the price for the denim by $10 each day of the sale.  Sizes for women run 23 to 30 and for men, 29 to 40.

Also on offer are sweaters for both women and men for $50.  That includes cashmere sweaters for men in green, camel, navy-gray and black-gray striped.  I couldn’t pass up this deal and had to pick up a cashmere camel sweater for my boyfriend.  You’ll also find other tops, starting at $20 for tees.  There are handbags in the back (leather for $150, woven for $100 and clutches for $80).  A limited selection of shoes and sandals are on sale (flats for $60 and heels for $80).

You should RSVP in advance online since I’m told that they will be checking at the door.  Staffers say they’ll be restocking everyday.  There’s so much denim up for grabs that you probably could wait for the prices to drop.
