The News starts its fall sample sale today (Thursday) at its Soho showroom. This sale offers merchandise from quite a number of brands. While we go primarily for the footwear, there’s so much more to be had here.
Let me get to what’s new/different this season. They’re carrying women’s merchandise by Public School and Tim Coppens. A limited selection can be found hanging on their on racks. Some highlights include Public School for women l/s knits for $148, Tim Coppens black s/s top is $115.
Much more Women by Common Project pumps ($75), sneakers ($150) and boots ($175). Only catch is most are showroom samples, thus size 37. Same goes for Common Projects for men which are size 42.
The are also carrying quite a few pieces from the house brand 6397; the signature denim jumpsuit is $125 (orig. $500+), jeans are $60, long thick wool knit pencil skirt is $150 and chunky sweaters ($200) perfect for the cold months ahead are folded on a table.
Also available are Destin scarves – cashmere/silk blends are $80. There’s also lots of Clu – basic knits/tops $30 and sweatshirts $50.
We were told that they no longer represent Anniel footwear. That means, the $10 deals on flats are pretty much gone. Other than a very limited selection of glitter pairs which are on a table in the back.
There are still $10 Cheap Monday jeans but this or next season may be the last time you see them here because they may be taking their representation in house.
Also new here are L-A based Sloan & Tate (made in USA) men’s style intimates for women ($15-$20). I really liked the soft cotton chevron pattern on the tanks and undies.
For men, Tim Coppens windbreakers are $155 and wool jackets at $250. There were also a couple of Public School leather jackets for $630.
Where/When: 495 Broadway (north of Broome), 5th Floor. Nov 12-14 Daily (10am-6pm).
