On Thursday, Saks Fifth Avenue began its 70% off consolidation sale at its NYC flagship store.  We haven’t made it there yet… But, as many of us know, there are deals everywhere right now!  Yesterday, Larry Label Whore made it into the Century 21 and Saks Off 5th in Paramus, New Jersey. Here’s what he found:

This is the time of year, get to your nearest Century 21 because almost all this season’s merchandise is 50% off (except some things such as belts which are still one-third off). While the deals may be great, the merchandise isn’t (for men, at least). All of the major high end designers like Dolce & Gabbana, Versace, Alexander McQueen, and Armani have been picked through. However, there are still some deals to be had since I’m sure you’ll be able to find something you like for a good price. I was able to score a great Dolce & Gabbana buttoned down dress shirt for $39.99! After using my store credit it cost me a penny! Since all of the designers are half off, you can score some Versace and D&G shirts for $50, Alexander McQueen for around $95, and Brioni for about $75. Lots of jackets also at 50% off. In the coming weeks, they’ll mark down to 65% off, but by then a lot of the good stuff will likely be gone so I suggest – go now.

A major BUT: beware of damaged clothes. Make sure to carefully inspect your garment, especially sweaters (look for holes or tears because I spotted a lot of those).

Even the non-sale items have great deals. My favorite is the Zegna and Canali belts for $30-$60. You can’t find belt prices like that anywhere especially for high-end made in Italy designers.

I then headed to Saks Off Fifth to see if they had any good deals (I wanted to avoid the crowds and crowded racks of consolidated merchandise. I headed to the 50% clearance racks, where I spotted some Michael Kors and Marc by Marc Jacobs jeans and cords for $40-$50 each. A reader previously asked if there are any Marc by Marc Jacobs sample sales. The answer is NO because the deals are at the department stores, outlets, and Century 21. I also spotted a great Isaiah Isaia dress shirt at 50% for about $65. A steal when you consider Isaiah was going for double that at the recent sample sale I covered. There wasn’t much else except a lot of Saks brand merch and some damaged clothes.

On my way out I stopped by to check the sunglasses. Most were 30% off and nothing caught my eye except a pair of Emporio Armani made in Italy sunglasses that were 50% off. I quickly snapped them up for $38 (an amazing price!). But as I was walking out, I realized I had a couple of pairs of great sunglasses already so I didn’t really need them. I ended up walking back in and returning them minutes after purchasing them. They’re up for grabs for anyone out there planning on stopping by the Saks Off 5th in Paramus. Definitely worth the trip, especially for me when you consider I only paid a penny for that D&G shirt!
