Nothing of note caught my eye at the Hermes sample sale when I dropped into Soiffer Haskin today.  It’s possible that I may have missed the boat and waited too long to check out the merchandise.  However, I don’t think it would have made a difference if I had stood in line for at least two hours yesterday and went in then.  Today, it was a breeze to get in (no line) and pleasant inside (no crowds, no grabbing).  As Madison Avenue Spy reported, the prices have been jacked up this time compared to the previous sale last spring held at the Metropolitan Pavilion in Chelsea.

The selection of goods was disappointing.  The scarves selection ($225 from $372 retail) were so-so. The handbags were limited – no more leather, only canvas and shopping bucket bags at close to or more than four figures.  Wallets and small accessories are also $1,000+.  I did spot a nice looking cell phone case in great colors for more than $500 (a little pricey, I thought).  Silky Pops (such a great deal in the last sale for under $300) are now more than $500. The shoe selection is slim – sandals and flats at $300+ and chunky unattractive heels for much more.  There’s tons of jewelry, including:  enamel bracelets ranging from $276 for thin ones to nearly $400 for wider versions in all sorts of patterns; leather and silver mixed band bracelets with the “H” charm for under $300; simple silver rings with an Hermes logo or heart charm for $213.  You won’t find the $15 deals on fragrances at this sale but you can still get bargains on scents starting at $36.

I was on the look out for a tie for my boyfriend but the selection was boring and the prices have gone up (surprise!).  I looked through the clothing.  But after picking up several sweaters that were going for $600, I decided not to bother.
