Sigerson Morrison shoes are de rigueur for style-conscious New Yorkers. I’m a big fan of FIT grads Kari Sigerson and Miranda Morrison’s simple, clean and modern designs. When I use to live in Nolita, I would stop by the chic little shop on Prince Street to check out the season’s new styles.
For months, I’ve been waiting for this sale to finally take place. So tonight, I expected to find a big selection of the designers’ irresistible flats, heels and boots. I got to the large warehouse space to find dozens of women digging through the bins and trying on armloads of the footwear. I was looking for the perfect boot. But after the initial excitement, nothing struck me. There was a lot of merchandise in all sorts of colors – silver, gold, turquoise, coral and black patten leather – but nothing great. For a few minutes, I considered – a gray smooth suede boot with black leather straps and 3 inch heels- very sexy. I eyed several styles of shoes, asking myself if I really needed any of them. In the end, I picked out a pair of cute black patten leather flats ($75) – perfect for the spring.
At the sale, Sigerson Morrison boots are priced at $200, booties $175 and shoes $150. Belle boots cost $175, shoes $75. There really weren’t many great deals at this sale. A few years back when Sigerson Morrison had their first warehouse sale – the boots were only $75-100 a pair. Now, that was a deal when I bought three pairs of boots.
