The IF Soho New York basement sale ends today… Fellow sale hound, Larry Label Whore, ventured downstairs to have a look. Not sure what he was expecting, he did find some notable deals:
“While everyone was focused on the Barneys sale, I made my way down to the IF basement sale in Soho after reading Sally’s review on it. After hearing all of the bad reviews on the Barneys Warehouse Sale, I decided to skip it this time around. It was my first time at the IF sale so I was excited to see the selection. I have to say for it being the second to last day I was pleasantly surprised.
There were four racks for me in the corner of the room with most items at 70% off retail. One of my favorite designers is Junya Watanabe for Comme des Garcons and there were still quite a few great pieces left. I fell in love with this jean jacket down to $347 from over $1100 (still too pricey for me, though). I also saw other Watanabe pieces including jackets and pants as well as a couple of jeans for $130 and $200.
Great finds at the sale included an Ivan Grundahl navy zip-up knit sweater for $96 from $320 and Comme des Garcons made in Spain zip-around leather wallets for $115. The biggest steal at the sale was navy Adam Kimmel made in Italy pants with a cute little belt buckle in the front for $60 from $525. Alas, it was a Large/52 and I’m definitely smaller than that!
Other designers still left at the sale with some good pieces were Maison Martin Margiela, Dries Van Noten, and White Mountaineering (Made in Japan).
I have to say if you have time, definitely stop by this sale and check it out. Also, check the stuff upstairs too because I love the new Comme des Garcons collection that’s now in the store. I’m eyeing it for the next sale. Skip the awful Barneys Warehouse Sale!”
