Luxury Italian bath and bed linen brand, Frette, is holding a sample sale at Chelsea Market. We stopped in Thursday evening to find a fairly quiet scene. The sale items were well organized by categories.
In the main area, there were sheet sets and duvet covers for queen and king size beds. The selection offered were mostly basic sheets in white and ivory with some novelty prints and designs mixed in.
Most items are priced as marked. To give you an idea of pricing, a basic queen size sheet was going for $249 (originally $425). A basic ivory striped queen duvet was $179. A navy novelty duvet cover was $679 (originally $1,720). Shams and pillowcases ranged in price from $29-$199.
Also available were bedspreads ($399, orig. $795) and coverlets ($999, orig. $3,400). On a lower level were boxes of down pillows.
There were also towels of various sizes and colors against a wall – bath towels at $30 to bath sheets at $50. A limited selection of slippers ($129) for men and women were on display on a table. Also on offer were decorative pillows starting at $69.
There were random overstock Made in Italy cashmere scarves, glove and hat sets for $199. The best deals were Made in Italy merino wool travel kits (throw and eye mask) for just $25 (orig. $295). One couple bought nearly a dozen of them in various colors.
I asked about restocking and one staffer told me that they might get new product this weekend but she wasn’t sure that was going to happen. We noticed that much of the linens were about 50% off retail. Not great pricing for a sample sale. Perhaps, they’ll offer further reductions on the last day.
Where/When: Chelsea Market, 75 Ninth Ave (b/w 15/16 Streets). Thru March 6; Fri-Sat (10am-7pm), Sun (10am-5pm).
