The CoSTUME NATIONAL sample sale ends today… and you can expect further reductions. Yesterday, the discount was at 80% off retail on all sale items. That included the few handbags that were there and footwear.
On sale are prices from the brand’s fall/winter 2015 collection for both men and women. The selection was already thinning out yesterday. With such a great deal (on Made in Italy items), it was not a surprise that shoppers were snapping up pieces. While walking around in the space, we noticed a lot of French costumers milling about.
As for what was left, there were a few handbags on the shelf (such as hobos, a small bucket bag and a small exotic skin bag). The pricing was around $300+.
The apparel hung on racks against a wall as you entered the space. There were some really nice pieces such as the feathered skirt pictured above for $400 (orig. $2,000+). We spotted a few coats such as a camel coat with grommets for $418 (orig. $2,090), a woven waistcoat for $518 ($2,590), a woven sports jacket for $558 (orig. $2,790). There were silk blouses in red, purple, black and white for under $200 (orig. $900). A black knee-length dress with contrasting foulard was $278 (orig. $1,390). There were also boots and shoes at $140 (pumps) and $250 (ankle boots).
Also in the back of the space were random apparel and footwear from John Varvatos – all at bargain basement prices with boots and shoes at $49.
As mentioned above since today is the last day, expect the prices to be marked down further. If you’re thinking of checking out the sale, do it sooner rather than later. Doors are suppose to close at 7pm.
Where/When: 151 Wooster Street (south of Houston). Thru Sunday, March 6 11am-7pm).
