The popular basement sale at the IF Boutique in Soho started on Wednesday. The store is a staple for avant-garde pieces including creations from Junya Watanabe (Commes des Garçons), Dries Van Noten, Maison Martin Margiela and more.
We wandered in last night to find the racks filled with clothing – lots of black and a smattering of color (i.e. bright purple and pink). We found knits, pants, coats, jackets and blazers at below wholesale prices. While there was plenty of merchandise, we noticed some of the items were from previous seasons such as the Margiela silver and gold wedges and flats ($220), Commes des Garçons boots ($300+) and pieces from the Copenhagen-based designer Ivan Grundahl.
The selection is pretty random but if you spend some time looking through the racks, you’ll find really incredible deals – between 80 to 90 percent off retail. Some standout pieces include a black Maison Martin Margiela long dress (now at $300, was $1,660), a black Junya Watanabe blazer (now at $525, was $1,752), Dries Van Noten light-weight sweater (now at $100, was $560). As per last sales, there are tons of pieces from Ivan Grundahl (coats and jackets at $232 and a cropped leather hoodie jacket at $430, was $1,435).
