Soho’s IF Boutique kicked off its semi-annual basement sale today… and if you’re a fan of edgy, avant-garde labels such as Comme des Garcons or Junya Watanabe, Maison Martin Margiela, Dries van Noten, then this is the sale for you…

As with the Boutique’s previous sales, this one is held in the basement of the shop on Grand Avenue.  There were lots of pieces from Danish designer, Ivan Grundal’s, up for grabs (plenty of linen to be had hanging on racks… and if your looking ahead to warmer weather, these pieces are perfect for summer).  Other pieces include…

If you’re familiar with these designers, you’ll know there’s not a lot of color range… mostly basic black is what you’ll find here.  Also, I noticed quite a few items from previous sales such as the Comme des Garcon padded coat ($360), Dries van Noten floral print pieces (a floral silk top is now $200, was $1,380; a tweed coat is $675, was $2,190)… and there’s more, including a Yohji Yamamoto blazer (now $465, was $1,550), Ivan Grundal linen jacket ($145), linen pants ($80), tops ($43), sweaters ($108).  On a rack next to the door are pieces by Junya Watanabe (a dress is $300) and quite a few knit pieces by Blade (sweaters starting at $216).  Also worth considering are the great deals on silk tanks by Jean Colonna ($30, was $205) which would be perfect for the summer.  As for footwear, the selection was fairly limited; a few styles in a few sizes… the Margiela pumps ($290) were the only ones that caught my eye.

  Where/When:  94 Grand St., nr. Greene St. (212-334-4964);  Feb 8-12; Wed–Sun (11–7p).
