For just two days, VPL designer Victoria Bartlett is hosting a one-of-a-kind vintage sale at her boutique on Mercer Street in Soho.  Wednesday night, Victoria was gracious in allowing me a sneak peek at the pieces up for grabs at the so-called Vintage Affair.  I took photos of the merchandise as well as the designer herself as she was pricing the garments.

Victoria along with stylist Polina Aronova, photographer Mitra Farahmand and socialite Arden Wohl have emptied their closets of some fabulous gems.  I spotted some must-haves… terrific vintage designer clothing and accessories, including standout pieces such as Chanel quilted cross-bodies that ranged in price from $1,650 to $2,000; a brown Hermès bucket bag tagged at $2,000; a Louis Vuitton cherry blossom bag for $600; a Vivienne Westwood Red label jacket for $5,000; a Vivienne Westwood Red & White skirt for $1,000.  Not everything was so pricey.  Designer shoes could be had for under $100 such as Manolos, Marni and Mayle, as well as a pair of platform Alexander Wangs for $110; JPG sandals for $200; Helmut Lang jeans for under $100 and scarves from $25 to $50.

Also available are pieces from the Rag Tag sale that was hosted by Tao which benefits the ongoing crisis in Japan. There’s really a lot on offer here that I was overwhelmed… not only some great finds but collectables.  The sale runs from Thursday to Friday.

Where/When: VPL (back room), 5 Mercer Street (at Howard Street); 212-966-2145.  July 7 and 8.
