I bought my first Francesco Biasia handbag in Rome before they were available in New York.  Back then, I didn’t know what I had.  I just knew that it was a chic Italian-made handbag of exquisite leather.  When I travel abroad, I try to look for interesting unique things that can’t be found here.  Of course, when I learned about this week’s Francesco Biasia sale, I had to check it out.

I got to the sale right when they opened the doors at 9am.  Since the sale started the day before, I feared that there wouldn’t be much choice. But there were plenty of handbags left in different sizes and colors.  The large leather handbags were priced between $150-$300.  Microfiber, fabric or straw bags ranged in prices from $65-$100.  Evening clutches cost $40.  And wallets ranged from $15-$50. First thing in the morning was a good time to hit the sale.  There were two other women shopping in the showroom.  One of them was trying to decide between two totally different handbags.  One was urban chic, the other looked like a weekend knock-around bag.  She ended up getting the urban chic for $100 (retail $295).  A woman who worked a the showroom told me that they had “a lot of product” at the start of the sale.  Snake-skin handbags apparently flew out the door.
