The high-end department stores are now offering their final markdowns of the season. Larry Label Whore who checked out the offerings at Bergdorf Goodman and Barneys tells us what he found:

“Barneys and Bergdorf Goodman are now offering up to 75% off – and as always they haven’t disappointed. I stopped by their flagship stores to shop ’til I dropped because the merch was great!

I first checked out Bergdorfs because their end of season sale is on the third floor in a few racks in the center of the aisle so it’s very easy to peruse. The clothes were definitely depleted, but not as bad as you might think. There were some great items on offer from top designers such as Prada, Alexander McQueen, Givenchy, Etro, Balmain, Dolce & Gabbana, and Dsquared… among others. Everything from shirts to sweaters to jackets to pants to suits were 75% off retail. You could definitely find something at a great price if you just looked. I picked up two pieces: a Prada navy zip-up wool sweater for $189 (originally $770) and an Alexander McQueen short-sleeve skull buttoned down shirt for $129 (originally $520). I’ve seen much more Saint Laurent at their previous sales, but only saw a couple of pieces this time. Tom Ford was 50% off retail (not worth it), while Loro Piana and Brunello Cucinelli were 30-40% off (also not worth it). I’ve also gotten cheaper Ralph Lauren Purple Label at other places than the 60% off they were offering. None of the Moncler was part of the sale.

I next made my way to shoes where the discount was only 50% off. Top brands were also part of this sale, but the discount was much better at Saks and Barneys. The only difference is there are some items you can get that you can’t get at other places like beautiful leather Christian Louboutin boots for $1000 (from $2000).

After Bergdorfs I braced myself for the 8 floors of scouring at Barneys. Just like at Bergdorf, top designers were down 75% off retail, but the biggest difference was selection. Barneys has more designers, more floors, and a wider selection of clothes to choose from. I went through each floor to check what’s on sale, but nothing caught my eye. Prices were great including Paul Smith Made in Italy buttoned down shirts for $77 and some Made in Belgium sweaters in the low $100s. I spotted a cool COMME des GARÇONS sweater for only $129, but alas it was a size small. The shoes were very depleted, down 60% off retail, with some notables that included Christian Louboutin spiked slip-ons and Ferragamo loafers. All jackets were only 50% off retail, not 75%.

The biggest news from the sale was the reduction of some Moncler Gamme Bleu items down 75% off while some jackets down 50% off. There was very little left from the brand, but I loved some of the pieces including a reversible wool/puffer jacket and a Made in Italy knit scarf. I was told by an associate regular Moncler was not on sale with only a couple of down jacket styles that went 60% off on the first day, but quickly sold out.

Like I do with every end of season Barneys and Bergdorf sale, you must check it out! A lot of great stuff for 75% off really can’t be beat. Happy Shopping!” -Larry Label Whore
