With the sample sale season not yet in full swing, Larry Label Whore made the trip to Woodbury Common near Harriman, New York with his mother to see what kind of deals he could find. Larry went into quite a number of high-end designer outlets to find discounts at around 80% off retail.
“It’s always a good idea to check in to what’s going on at Woodbury Common. It’s been a quiet sale season so far so I thought I would stop in and do some damage. Needless to say I found some great discounts at various stores. The best deals I found were at Burberry, Prada, and Tom Ford.
Burberry had a few racks of an extra 50% off of marked down items. Some of the items had already been marked down more than 50% so the total savings were 80% off! There were some camel colored Burberry London trench coats Made in Italy for $460 (with tax) from $1,795. They had other kinds of trench coats also between 70-80% off of the retail price. I spotted some Burberry Prorsum blue Made in Italy dress shirts for $59 from $295. Some pants were also heavily discounted, but I didn’t look through them.
At Prada, I found some buttoned down shirts for $55, but they were too big for me (sizes 17-18). I also spotted a multi-colored turtleneck sweater for $75, but it was also too big for me.
One of my favorite designers, Tom Ford, had a few items for an extra 50% the discounted price for a total of almost 80% off. Those included cashmere cable knit sweaters for around $400 from $2000 and my favorite item in the store: thigh-high leather riding boots now tagged at $1100 from $5700. Even though these were great savings and pieces, they were still too pricey for me.
Other deals to be had at the boutiques included a couple of racks of an extra 60% and 70% off of reduced merchandise at Bottega Veneta. At Brunello Cucinelli, they were offering an extra 60% off of sale items (in my opinion, not as good as the 85% off of retail at the Cucinelli sample sale).
Going shopping with my Mom is always interesting. One thing you cannot do at these places is go in and out, which is what my Mom likes to do. This is why I find the better deals. This time was no different, however she did find these Swarovski rings for $25. They were big and gaudy so I nixed that idea. There’s a reason they were only $25!!”
