Elegant and artsy is what came to mind when I entered the Vera Wang showroom in Midtown to survey the garments hanging from racks in the spacious loft. Wang – known for her popular bridal collection – held a sample sale of her spring ready-to-wear line.
Wang is a high-end designer and the clothing reflects that. There were some amazing dresses at this sale — if you were willing to dig a little deep into your wallet. Most of the items were at least 75% off retail. One dress that caught my eye (a sheer gazar over a slip with a chrystalline neckline) was on sale for $430 (originally $1775). Basic pants were priced at under $150. Jackets and coats cost between $400-$600. There was a rack with deals; pants, skirts, and tops for under $100. But there wasn’t much left of those deals when I got to the sale. If you’re looking for a dress for a party or special occasion, this would be the sale to hit.
Where/When: 225 W. 39th St., nr. Seventh Ave., ninth fl.; Tues-Fri (9-7p), Sat (Noon-4p). May 28 to 30th.
