For the avant-garde shopper deals can be had at IF Soho New York. The boutique is hosting its semi-annual sale on Grand Street. We wandered in after doing some damage at KISAN. The sale is always held in the basement.
While we were looking through the racks, one of the staffers had on a fun-looking feathered number (Dries van Noten, perhaps?). She and her colleagues were trying to create levity to what must have been a long day.
This season’s sale has plenty to offer from Maison Martin Margiela, Rick Owens, Yohji Yamamoto, Dries van Noten, Ivan Grundahl – just to name a few designers.
As we walked in, we were greeted with racks of black clothing. While that’s not a surprise for this store, it just seemed as if in the past there had been more of an infusion of other colors.
We quickly looked through the sale merchandise to find a pretty good selection of current fall items. A few which caught our eye includes a Rick Owens black knit dress ($300), Yohji Yamamoto black cashmere sweater ($370), a Comme des Garcon black voluminous cardigan ($318), Martin Maison Margiela blue wool peacoat ($655), Martin Maison Margiela rust pullover sweater ($210), Dries van Noten collegiate stripe silk top/pin-stripe wool dress ($540), Dries van Noten tee shirt ($99), Margiela silk black blouse ($468).
As for footwear which can be found on or below a table, there were a few styles for both men and women. More so for the gents than ladies where the choices included a number of Margiela flats ($192), motorcycle boots ($398) and pumps.
There were some standout pieces and selection wasn’t too bad this season. Pretty good deals considering what these designers go for at retail. Sale ends on Sunday.
