Today is the last day of the Vivienne Westwood sale of the brand’s Spring/Summer 2009 Collection.  I dropped into the Chelsea showroom where the sale was taking place.  Late Wednesday, there were a handful of women looking through the racks.  But no one there appeared to be opening their wallets.  That may be because – even at 70% to 80% off – the prices were still a bit steep.  Dresses were between $299 to $499.  Knit tops started at $199. The showroom held the same sale last month. It appears that the product hasn’t really moved.

Other clothing lines were also on sale, including London-based designer Luis de Gamma (dresses were marked down to $199) and the popular Brazil brand, Iodice (dresses $125 and tops $59).

Apparently, the merchandise is headed to Century 21 at the end of next week.  Maybe sale organizers will slash prices today.  If not, you can try to bargain with them.
