Tonight, the Metropolitan Museum of Art kicks off the Costume Institute Benefit celebrating PUNK: Chaos to Couture… This is off topic but we wanted to share it with our readers… You don’t need to be there to watch the red carpet arrivals.
Here’s our chance to shop for a great cause! Just today (Friday), the Metropolitan Pavilion has opened its doors for a charity sample sale (Fashion For Sandy Relief), which will benefit the recovery efforts from Hurricane Sandy. I didn’t have much time this morning, but I did make a quick stop during the preview before they opened the doors to the public. Inside, you’ll find all sorts of apparel and accessories (includes handbags & shoes) at 60% off retail.
A sample sale to benefit Sandy relief efforts… it’s tomorrow (Friday) at the Metropolitan Pavilion. The Tory Burch Foundation teamed up with the Council of Fashion Designers of America and Vogue for what’s being called Fashion For Sandy Relief. A long list of designers are offering pieces from their collections at 50% off retail.
Tonight, many of us will be taking to the streets of New York City for Fashion’s Night Out. More than a thousand retailers across the city will be hosting all kinds of events with celebrity appearances, complimentary drinks, food and fun.
If you’re not into crowds and want to avoid the mob scene, you can still be upfront and see the action. Watch us on our LIVE CAM as we venture into some of the key stores to capture the happenings… We plan to start broadcasting after 6pm and we’ll be on and off the air through the night. Stay tuned!
Last week, Vogue’s Grace Coddington and André Leon Talley took part in a discussion of the documentary The September Issue at the Barnes & Noble on Union Square. The event kicked off the release of the film on DVD. The snowstorm didn’t stop people from attending. It was a packed house. I caught some of the discussion on video. Both Talley and Coddington shared their impressions of the film as well as spoke about other topics such as what defines style…
Vogue’s William Norwich moderated the panel which also included director R.J. Cutler. If you want to see more, you can go to the Barnes & Noble website where you’ll find video of the panel discussion.
