Thursday, the Housing Works’ Fashion for Action shopping event opens to the public at the Altman Building in Chelsea. It’s an opportunity to shop 150 brands for a great cause at charitable prices (50 to 70 percent off).
This year, Thom Browne and Co-Chairs Patricia Clarkson, Eva Jeanbart-Lorenzotti, and Rachel Roy kicked off the fundraiser with a VIP shopping preview and cocktail party… Our trusted reader, Deme, attended the preview. She took photos (including snapshots of Thom Browne & Rachel Roy)… and she gives us an idea of what can be had:
Clothingline opened its doors a day early for the Tory Burch sale. The line outside the space on Monday evening stretched down West 36th Street. While the line was long, it did move quickly and we were all inside before we knew it. As for the deals, there was plenty of spring/summer merchandise, including the designer’s signature tunics ($115) and dresses ($145) in bright colors – plain, sequined and embroidered. Also on offer are skirts ($75), pants ($85), tops ($85 and $95), blazers/coats ($195). I even spotted a few winter puffers! All the leather merch is $250. A navy cropped motorcycle-style jacket caught my eye. It also came in a caramel color in all sizes.  The clothing is all organized by size on racks throughout the room.
Through Thursday, the Shoe-Inn is hosting it’s annual warehouse sale in the Garment District where thousands of shoes and boots are up for grabs. In previous years, the sale has had a wide selection of designer footwear. However, when I stopped in late yesterday (the first day of the sale), I wasn’t impressed with what I found. I started with the boot section. While they had plenty on offer, I didn’t spot any gems.
I did see DVF and Michael Kors suede knee high boots, Marc by Marc Jacobs ankle boots, Pucci snow boots, See by Chloe, Stuart Weitzman, Via Spiga and Roberto del Carlo leather boots. For me, nothing stood out. The same goes for the shoe selection. All boots range in price from $39.99-$199.99, all shoes are $19.99-$99.99. Today is the last day of the Tory Burch sample sale at Clothingline in the Garment District. It’s also a good day to get bargains since sale prices have been reduced. Sale organizers began offering additional discounts over the weekend… According to one shopper (she posted her findings in the Purse Blog forum) [...] This morning… our favorite contributor, Sample Sale Diva, snapped a shot of the scene outside Clothingline on W.36th Street. No surprise to find a line there. Burrrr! These diehard Tory Burch fans braved the frigid temps to get their hands on the deals inside. Where/When: Clothingline, 261 W. 36th St., 2nd [...]
Sample Sale Diva returned to the Tory Burch sample sale in the Garment District around 4:30pm Wednesday afternoon. She wasn’t disappointed… picking up a few things. From her photos, you can tell there’s tons of merchandise (clothing and accessories, including shoes and handbags). Here’s The Diva’s report:
The Tory Burch sample sale officially kicks off tomorrow. Today, friends & family of the label were able to check out the goods first. Our contributor, Sample Sale Diva, was there earlier today and sent us a photo of the line. She tried her luck this afternoon but they wouldn’t allow her in. However, [...]
I thought some of the Milly items (actual samples) were worth it – feminine pieces and classic silhouettes. I spotted some signature Milly – Palm Beach palette in great fabrics and prints. The items are a steal: tops, skirts and pants at $39, dresses from at $59 and $79. One problem is the sizing (size 4 or 6). There were several racks of Tory Burch odds and ends, including dresses ($50), tops ($25) and bottoms ($35). None of the Tory Burch caught my eye. There was also plenty of sweaters (if you can even think of wool and cashmere in this heat) by Design History at affordable prices – samples from $25 to $50. Several styles of Kooba handbags were available going for $225 and $275. Boy Meets Girl tanks & tops are $30, hats $20 and bags $35. One of the guys who runs the place, Michael, was in rare form today. Seriously. I don’t know where he comes up with his announcements. As he was trying to scoot the customers out of the space at closing, he said “Ladies, the sales floor is now closed. While I really want to stay here, I have a life. I have to get home so I can feed my fish!!!” |
