Tipster Review: Staff USA Sample Sale – Maison Martin Margiela, Viktor & Rolf, DSquared…

The Staff USA sample sale in Chelsea ends Saturday at 5pm. This sale is normally quite extensive and from the looks of Sample Sale Diva’s photos, there’s plenty of merchandise.  At this sale, the labels on offer include: Dsquared2Maison Martin Margiela, and its diffusion line MM6, and Viktor&Rolf.  Here’s what The Diva found:

I checked out the Staff USA sample sale and needless to say it is “pricey”. Be ready to shell out up to $75 for a T-shirt and over $100 for hoodies. Right now, everything is 30% off the ticketed price and the price goes down as the day goes by (lol). The clerk told me that many people have been standing around, waiting for the prices to go down (in the past, they’ve arbitrarily slashed prices during the day).  I saw coats for $1,000 and bags for $678. I’d say the average price is around $300 (before the 30% is taken at the register).  It s a pretty good sale but imo it’s a bit pricey.

Staff USA Sample Sale: Actual Samples of Margiela, Dsquard2 and Viktor & Rolf

Most of what’s on offer at the Staff USA sample sale in Chelsea are actual samples.  For women, that means a European size 40 or 42.  While there are a few overstock pieces in other sizes, what’s here are samples.  Yesterday evening the space was fairly quiet – just a handful of men and women going through the racks.  As listed in our sales listing page, the labels featured here are Dsquared2, Maison Martin Margiela, MM6, and Viktor&Rolf.  Within minutes of walking into the space, sale organizers already began slashing prices – down to 50-percent off the ticketed price (wholesale) from 30-percent.  This was only the first day of the sale.

Tipster Report: STAFF USA sample sale – not worth the effort…

Photo via: Deme

The Staff USA sample sale in Chelsea ends today… Our highly-regarded source, Deme, checked it out yesterday and she tells us not to waste our time. The sale offers pieces from Dsquard2, Maison Martin Margiela, Viktor & Rolf, MM6 and more.  Here’s what Deme reports:

The sale was near empty at 5:40pm yesterday.  I knew something was up when I noticed there was no line for the register.  You could walk right up and pay.

Understandably so, as inventory, in my estimates, appeared to be down 80% from last year in terms of quantity. There were only about 10 purses, a few belts and 10 pieces of jewelry.  The shoes are usually the main draw but this year the selection was minuscule as well.  A few pairs of platform boots (7 or 10) and pumps that separated your big toe from the rest of your toes.  The usual designers were there as promised.  However, each designer had only about 4 racks of merchandise on display.  They offered an additional 30% off ticket (wholesale) prices.  Not worth the effort.

Where/When: 220 West 19th Street, 10th floor.  November 11 to 13.  Thurs – Fri (10-7p), Sat (12 – 5p).
