Since I bought some wine glasses at the Gracious Home store in Chelsea (766 6th Avenue at 25th Street), I thought I’d check to see if they had the same ones on sale. After the family-owned retailer filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection last month, it’s now closing its Chelsea location. Besides wine glasses, the store sells housewares, tabletop items, lighting, bedding, bath fixtures, luggage and more. On Monday, items were mostly 20 percent off. Some things were an extra 50 percent off, including select bedding and bathroom fixtures. The store was a bit disheveled when I stopped in on Monday evening. I didn’t think the 20 percent off was that great of a discount. I did, however, find more wine glasses.

 Artsy Anna finished off her busy week of sale shopping and reviewing with a glass of wine in Chelsea. Sipping wine didn’t stop her from heading over to Austrian glass company Riedel‘s sample sale that’s taking place through the weekend. Here’s what she found:
Did you have a particularly good sample sale week? Score some incredible buys? Then, you should head to Chelsea Market this weekend and toast your fabulous self with new Riedel glasses at the brand’s first-ever sample sale.  I stopped by last night to check out the scene.  The sale features varietal stemware from their various lines including Sommelier, Vinum, Vinum Extreme and “O” tumblers.  There’s also a small tabletop section with espresso sets, chargers, salad plates, bowls.  Prices range from $16 for a Vinovino Chardonnay set of 4 to $65.50 (retail $109) per piece for mouth-blown glasses that will delight even the most demanding wine connoisseur.  Decanters run $81-$297.
To keep you in good spirits, the folks at Chelsea Wine Vault are holding a tasting in the sale room and offering Riedel shoppers 10% off any still wine in their friendly shop located just down the hall from the sale.
