Just like the other high-end retailers, Bergdorf Goodman is holding its post-holiday sale. Score on up to 60-percent off select designer merchandise. On Thursday, I popped into the women’s store to survey their offerings…
The Saks Fifth Avenue winter sale is in full swing this week… Get up to 60-percent off the original price for her and up to 50-percent off for him.
Through the end of the month, Housing Works Thrift Shops is hosting it’s annual “Best of Fall” shopping events… where you can get deals on used furniture, fashion and artwork.
Yesterday evening’s downpour didn’t dissuade hardcore shoppers from showing up at the Chelsea location. At 6pm, it was packed and there was a line at the register.  If you’re willing to dig through the stuff (and there’s a lot of stuff), you’re likely to find some gems… anything from a Herman Miller chair ($175) to a Prada knit top ($50) – items that caught my eye last night.
The high-end consignment shop, INA, is offering additional discounts of 25 percent off the already marked down goods through the weekend.
I stumbled on the additional reductions yesterday at the location on Bleecker Street in Noho. Items with the extra discount have a red dotted sticker.  Not many of the shoes were additionally marked down but I did spot quite a few designer dresses, tops and denim such as (after the discount): a Stella McCartney dress for $122, Jill Stuart dress at $72, See by Chloe tunic for $94, a Missoni top for $88, a Prada top for $225 and a linen Chanel dress tagged at $524. There were also a few handbags such as a Marc Jacobs bag for $175, and a Fendi tote for $123. For four decades, the POSH sale has kicked off every spring. This time, New York City’s top fashion fundraiser is taking place at a new location… The Plaza Hotel. The sale is a treasure trove of new and gently worn designer clothing, accessories and footwear for women, men and children at 50 to 80 percent off the retail price. Designers include Alexander McQueen, Asprey, Bill Blass, Burberry, Carolina Herrera, Chanel, Christian Dior, Hermes, Jimmy Choo, Marc Jacobs, Michael Kors, Prada and the list goes on… We attended last night’s preview.  As with previous sales, the merchandise is well organized in separate sections/rooms in the lower level of the Plaza (vintage, contemporary and designer for the well-dressed lady and the dapper gent). Many of the shoppers have been coming to this sale for years and so they knew what they were looking for. A room towards the back that contained all the high-end designer merchandise (including furs) is where we spent most of our time. That’s also where I spotted the fashion icon, Iris Apfel, looking through the racks of designer wares (just like everyone else there) and hoping to find something that catches her eye. |
