Like many of you, I was out and about on Fashion’s Night Out. I managed to convince the little Mister to come with and bring his camera. There was a lot of window theatre this year and the DJ’s were plentiful as well. Above is a sample of his handiwork.
Heidi Weisel has extended its sample sale in its MePa studio through this Thursday, adding more gowns and dresses ($250 to $400) and specialty separates ($125 to $300). The prices are 80 – 90% off retail with sizes ranging from 2 to 6. Cash Only. Last week, we posted video of some of the lovely pieces on offer.

I’m still on vacation… but I thought I’d alert you to a sale that might be worth checking out… FALLS is hosting a holiday sample sale in Chelsea for just one day. Here’s what you can find: Silk printed dresses from $60, cashmere sweaters starting at $50, coats and hand knit pieces from $90. If you’ve ever been to their sample sales, you’ll know that there are always some great deals (especially knits, sweaters and dresses) to be had.
Where/When: 425 w23rd street (b/w 9th & 10th Aves), Metro Meeting Space, 1BB. December 1st, (11-7p).
We checked out the Tashkent by Cheyenne sample sale in the LES this afternoon. The designer herself was there helping customers. Cheyenne was very accommodating, allowing us to videotape her as she walked us through the sale, picking out a few standouts.

We got there when they first opened and the selection was pretty slim with many one offs (only available in one size). There are, however, some great finds. If you’re in the area and looking for footwear, you should stop in… you may find a deal. If you want to know more about the designer, check out the profile we did last May. Sale ends tomorrow.

I was surprised to find a line outside the Elie Tahari sample sale Tuesday night. According to one of the security guards, at least 1,000 customers had walked through the doors on this first day of the sale. Inside, it was bustling with shoppers looking through the racks. An abundance of clothing is on offer, mostly for women. However, I did spot a couple of racks of shirts, blazers, trousers and jackets for men. The sale is pretty well organized with the garments separated by design.
You can find some real deals here at up to 85% off the retail price; cocktail dresses that used to be $600 now just $99, pumps for $79 (were $500) and leather jackets at $279 (were over $1,000). If you’re looking for items for the cooler temperatures ahead, you’ll find plenty of coats for $279 (were $550) and cashmere sweaters starting at $69 (were $398). Also on offer are dresses which start at $99 as well as blazers (also $99), pants and skirts are $59, blouses range from $49 to $59, knits from $19-$29, shoes (flats, pumps and sandals) start at $59 and are available in size 6 to 9; a limited selection of boots are going for $129 (I only saw two styles of boots in small sizes). A plethora of handbags in a variety of colors can be had starting at $79 for small bags, $249 for the large ones. As far as sizes, I noticed a lot of sample sizes (6 & 8). However, there were quite a few smalls and larges mixed in, but I had to look hard. With the amount of merchandise at this sale, be prepared to spend time looking through the racks.
