The Sunner sample sale offers some deals on actual samples and what appears to be past season merchandise. If you’ve ever been to this sale, you’ll know how small the Garment District space is… But this afternoon, it wasn’t busy at all. Unlike previous sales, no crowds. Good thing since there’s only one mirror set up against a wall where you can try things on.
Let’s start with the warm weather wear since it was freezing out today…All coats are $75, jackets are $60 and blazers $50. There’s a limited selection of wool coats, capes and jackets (many of them were samples – size 4 or 6) – a few one-of-a-kinds. Many of the coats were wrinkled but a trip to the dry cleaners might make them look good as new. One customer was considering the Endeavor coat in taupe (now $75, retailed for $410). I didn’t see anything I liked.

Stopped into the Proenza Schouler fall/winter 2010 sample sale this morning to find a calm showroom with a few shoppers going through the racks. If you’re planning a warm weather getaway this winter, you might want to stop into the Calypso St. Barth sample sale where everything is going for under $100. You’ll find signature light-weight pastel pieces. Our contributor, Sample Sale Diva, stopped in this afternoon to take some snapshots. Here’s what you can expect: summer dresses now $49 (retailed at $250), shirts now $49 (retailed at $165), cashmere sweaters are $99 (retailed at $295), AG Jean styles at $49 (were $175), tees are $9 (were $65). As you can see from the bird-eye view, there’s tons of merchandise.

Today is the last day of the Tory Burch sample sale at Clothingline in the Garment District. It’s also a good day to get bargains since sale prices have been reduced. Sale organizers began offering additional discounts over the weekend… According to one shopper (she posted her findings in the Purse Blog forum) [...]
The Helmut Lang sample sale started bright and early this morning… just an hour into the sale, there was already a line at the cash register. Here you’ll find pieces from the label’s fall 2010 collection, including some of the designing duo Nicole and Michael Colovos’ key pieces. Fitted jackets and rabbit-collared vests (now $199, retailed from $415 to $655), shearling coats (now $799, retailed for $2,650), draped silk dresses ranged in price from $99 to $159. There were also denim (including jeggings and leggings) and trousers (now $79 to $99). Tanks and tees are $49 to $59. Sale goes through this Sunday.

Sample Sale Diva returned to the Tory Burch sample sale in the Garment District around 4:30pm Wednesday afternoon. She wasn’t disappointed… picking up a few things. From her photos, you can tell there’s tons of merchandise (clothing and accessories, including shoes and handbags). Here’s The Diva’s report:
There was virtually no one there when I arrived but it started getting very busy when I left after 5pm. It was an awesome sale. The most beautiful Tory Burch ever. There are some stunning dresses just in time for the Holiday party season… I stuck to T-shirts, getting the classic Tory Burch shirt with red and blue embellished logo and a beautiful embellished heart tee. I bought a gorgeous sequin black dress for my sister that retails for $695. My damage was $368. I didn’t care for the handbag and shoe selection but as far as the clothes go – they were great.
