Through the end of the month, Housing Works Thrift Shops is hosting it’s annual “Best of Fall” shopping events… where you can get deals on used furniture, fashion and artwork.
Yesterday evening’s downpour didn’t dissuade hardcore shoppers from showing up at the Chelsea location. At 6pm, it was packed and there was a line at the register.  If you’re willing to dig through the stuff (and there’s a lot of stuff), you’re likely to find some gems… anything from a Herman Miller chair ($175) to a Prada knit top ($50) – items that caught my eye last night.
Through Thursday, the Shoe-Inn is hosting it’s annual warehouse sale in the Garment District where thousands of shoes and boots are up for grabs. In previous years, the sale has had a wide selection of designer footwear. However, when I stopped in late yesterday (the first day of the sale), I wasn’t impressed with what I found. I started with the boot section. While they had plenty on offer, I didn’t spot any gems.
I did see DVF and Michael Kors suede knee high boots, Marc by Marc Jacobs ankle boots, Pucci snow boots, See by Chloe, Stuart Weitzman, Via Spiga and Roberto del Carlo leather boots. For me, nothing stood out. The same goes for the shoe selection. All boots range in price from $39.99-$199.99, all shoes are $19.99-$99.99.
Michael Kors is hosting a sample sale this week on 42nd Street near Bryant Park. After a Racked reporter was rebuffed, we find out that this sale was actually ONLY being held for one day! Artsy Anna stopped in this morning to find lots of knits (dresses and mostly sweaters). She managed to [...]
The annual Shoe-Inn warehouse sale kicked off over the weekend. The sale promises to deliver thousands of women’s designer shoes and boots at deep discounts. Sale organizers filled the massive Gotham Hall in the Garment District with plenty of footwear – not all of it is worth buying. I checked out the goods on Saturday with a friend, Richard, who was visiting from out of town.
Our first impressions were of questionable footwear and anyone hitting this sale will have to be committed to searching through it all. Luckily, we’re pros in finding the gems and it didn’t take long to spot several pairs of boots we liked. They included a black classic yet hip Stella McCartney above-the-knee boot for $199, a See by Chloe brown platform boot for $189 and an Italian 60s-inspired brown suede stretch boot (Nebuloni) for $110. We also spotted a number of black leather and suede DVF boots, Marc by Marc Jacobs duck boots for the snowy weather, Frye footwear, Cole Haan, Michael Kors and more.
