Scoop NYC’s Sale: Plenty of Merchandise at 50% Off

 Scoop-NYC-Sale, 50 to 85% off retail

As summer comes to an end… Scoop NYC has decided to clean out it’s closets and hosting a sale. Our hardworking roving reviewer, Fashionable Femme Jen, checked out the offerings yesterday.  Jen found lots of goods and a mix of designers at mostly 50% off retail.  Here’s her report:

With the rainy weather and sluggish start to the work week, I stopped by the Scoop ultimate clean out sale looking to brighten an otherwise dreary day. Boasting discounts of up to 85% off, I brave the rain and trek to the West side during lunch to see what bargains there are to be had. At around 12:30, only a few shoppers are milling inside and a large production trailer is blocking the storefront.

The Label Whore Finds Deals at Century 21 & Saks Off 5th

On Thursday, Saks Fifth Avenue began its 70% off consolidation sale at its NYC flagship store.  We haven’t made it there yet… But, as many of us know, there are deals everywhere right now!  Yesterday, Larry Label Whore made it into the Century 21 and Saks Off 5th in Paramus, New Jersey. Here’s what he found:

This is the time of year, get to your nearest Century 21 because almost all this season’s merchandise is 50% off (except some things such as belts which are still one-third off). While the deals may be great, the merchandise isn’t (for men, at least). All of the major high end designers like Dolce & Gabbana, Versace, Alexander McQueen, and Armani have been picked through. However, there are still some deals to be had since I’m sure you’ll be able to find something you like for a good price. I was able to score a great Dolce & Gabbana buttoned down dress shirt for $39.99! After using my store credit it cost me a penny! Since all of the designers are half off, you can score some Versace and D&G shirts for $50, Alexander McQueen for around $95, and Brioni for about $75. Lots of jackets also at 50% off. In the coming weeks, they’ll mark down to 65% off, but by then a lot of the good stuff will likely be gone so I suggest – go now.

Housing Works “Best of Fall” Shopping Events at Selected Stores in NYC

Through the end of the month, Housing Works Thrift Shops is hosting it’s annual “Best of Fall” shopping events… where you can get deals on used furniture, fashion and artwork.

Yesterday evening’s downpour didn’t dissuade hardcore shoppers from showing up at the Chelsea location.  At 6pm, it was packed and there was a line at the register.   If you’re willing to dig through the stuff (and there’s a lot of stuff), you’re likely to find some gems… anything from a Herman Miller chair ($175) to a Prada knit top ($50) – items that caught my eye last night.

The Shoe-Inn’s Massive Warehouse Sale… so-so selection.

Through Thursday, the Shoe-Inn is hosting it’s annual warehouse sale in the Garment District where thousands of shoes and boots are up for grabs. In previous years, the sale has had a wide selection of designer footwear. However, when I stopped in late yesterday (the first day of the sale), I wasn’t impressed with what I found.  I started with the boot section. While they had plenty on offer, I didn’t spot any gems.

I did see DVF and Michael Kors suede knee high boots, Marc by Marc Jacobs ankle boots, Pucci snow boots, See by Chloe, Stuart Weitzman, Via Spiga and Roberto del Carlo leather boots. For me, nothing stood out. The same goes for the shoe selection.  All boots range in price from $39.99-$199.99, all shoes are $19.99-$99.99.

Update: Deals on Knits & Sweaters at the Michael Kors Sample Sale

Michael Kors is hosting a sample sale this week on 42nd Street near Bryant Park.  After a Racked reporter was rebuffed, we find out that this sale was actually ONLY being held for one day!  Artsy Anna stopped in this morning to find lots of knits (dresses and mostly sweaters).  She managed to take photos… Here’s what she reports:

Michael Kors is off to a running start with the label’s sale in Midtown.  Prices range from $10 to $75 for men’s and women’s basics.   Rumor is they’re slashing prices after lunch!  If you’re mad for the label, it may be worth braving the rain to find a few items for fall.

According to Anna, there are no shoes or handbags on offer.  Where:  11 West 42nd Street b/w 6th & 5th Aves.  12th Floor. 20th Floor.
