Barneys Warehouse Sale: Women’s Designer Clothing on Day One

We continue our Barneys Warehouse Sale coverage with a look at women’s designer clothing… I was happy to see that the women’s stuff is back on the main floor – a much better location than the dingy basement level (organizers must have listened to complaints from last winter’s sale).

Now onto the goods… which the first thing I noticed is the depleted selection of women’s designer duds.  In previous sales, they’ve had racks and racks of merchandise.  Not this year, just a smaller section near the exit.  Plus, there wasn’t as many designers on offer.  The selection was so limited this time around that the racks have been organized by size instead of label.

Barneys Warehouse Sale: A Look at Designer Shoes & Handbags on the First Day

The madness began today at the semi-annual Barneys Warehouse Sale in Chelsea.  While it’s best to wait until the last week for the best deals, die-hard shoppers were lined up at the crack of dawn.  I made it inside around 10am this morning.  My intention was to survey the merchandise and to see if there were any gems. Check out the video of the shoes and handbags…

Final Days & Further Markdowns at the Barneys Summer Sale…

Yesterday, Barneys began it’s final reductions for the summer before its Warehouse Sale which is due to take place next month…  Sale prices for selected items have now been slashed down to 75 percent off retail.  Yesterday, I checked out the store on Madison Avenue to find out what was left since not everything is online.  I concentrated on shoes and handbags because a girl can’t get enough of both…at least this girl!

Maria Cornejo & Repetto Sample Sale: Prices for Actual Samples Start at $50

Maria Cornejo has teamed up with the Repetto showroom to host a two-day sample sale in Soho.  First off, there’s not much Repetto footwear left when I checked out the sale late in the day Wednesday.  They looked like the leftovers from the previous Repetto sale earlier this month.

As for the Zero + Maria Cornejo, there were racks of actual samples and previous season merchandise starting at $50. The selection was spotty and so was the sizing.  I saw knits (pullover sweaters, tanks, cardigans), some dresses, skirts and pants.  As mentioned, they’re samples  so some of the pieces were damaged (holes and rips) so make sure you look carefully before buying.

I love scouring flea markets looking for gems… and the Brooklyn Flea is one place I can spend an entire day.  Yesterday, I spotted a vendor, Estate Jewels by George & Raf, who sells stunning vintage jewelry.  They carry some of the most amazing and important pieces, including vintage Chanel, YSL, Lanvin, Sonia Rykiel, [...]

Update: Barneys Warehouse Sale Offers Further Discounts

Barneys Warehouse Sale
began offering further discounts Monday.  I popped in last night to see what was left after the weekend.  It appears they’ve added more high-end RTW designer goods (a long rack in the middle of the main women’s floor has now been set aside for designers such as Lanvin and Stella McCartney).  An additional 25 percent off designer items stamped with a”Red Star.”  As with previous sales, look for the red stamp on the tag to get the discount.  Sale organizers are also giving an additional 35 percent off WHSE stamped items on designer clothing and shoes with a “Blue” stamp.  But good luck finding any blue stamps on shoes.  I spent some time looking for the rare stamp and only found a few not-so-great CO-OP sandals.  As for menswear, take an additional 25 percent off men’s casual pants and white tag casual jackets.  There will certainly be further discounts – when they start slashing further depends on how much merchandise they sell.

VIDEO: Barneys Warehouse Sale – Day 1

The Barneys Warehouse Sale is undeniably one of the biggest sales in New York City.  It’s always mobbed, especially on the first day.  This season was no different as Racked reported this morning while line blogging with the early birds standing in line an hour before the doors opened.  I showed up before 10am to find no line.  However, the scene inside was madness.  No surprise that the women’s shoe section was crowded.

Women shoes can be found in the same place as usual right when you walk in.  This time, sale organizers are offering an additional 25 percent off items with the “BLUE” stamp.  I spotted a few shoes with the blue stamp, including a Marc Jacobs pump that was already on sale for under $150.  I was told that those items are from previous seasons which is why there’s an extra discount.  As for the selection in footwear, as usual plenty of designer sandals and heels with a smattering of boots.  I spotted a pair of Balenciaga super high heeled gladiators for $500 (my friend picked up the same pair during last winter’s sale for $150).  I also saw a few Lanvin pumps from two seasons ago going for $400.  There’s a few Loub flat sandals, wedges and heels, Lanvin cut-out slingbacks, Prada wedges, sandals and heels, Chloe, Costume National, Pierre Hardy, Rochas, Robert Clergerie, Stella McCartney, and more.  There’s a lot of product and you have to spend the time to really look.
