Japanese retailer, Uniqlo, is holding its winter sale. At the New York flagship store on Fifth Avenue, I checked out the goods on the 2nd Floor where the Jil Sander (+J) collaboration pieces can be found. There are great deals on winter essentials such as coats, sweaters and more.
I received the alert today that the Barneys markdown is now up to 75-percent off on “select” fall/winter merchandise. My question is: on what?! After work, I made my way over to the Madison Avenue store, just to see what actually was discounted and by how much?
Just days before Christmas… and retailers are offering holiday discounts. One of them, Barneys where its now at the second markdown at up to 60-percent off selected items…
I have to thank fellow shopper, Deme, who saved me the trip and checked out the La Garçonne Warehouse sale yesterday… When I saw the list of designers (Maison Martin Margiela, Proenza Schouler, Alexander Wang, Vanessa Bruno and more), I must say I was tempted. But after reading her account (I trust her opinion on sales!), I’m not sure I’m heading over there now. She was so put off by the display of the apparel that she stuck to shoes… Here’s Deme’s scoop:
I have never seen a more unappealing layout for clothing. You have to seriously want to find something to be willing to pull out each item individually just to get an idea of what it looks like. Pricing on clothing was up to 75% off but the items I liked were still a few hundred dollars so I concentrated on shoes.
All week, Uniqlo is offering what it calls “special promotion” on many of the items found at the Japanese retailer’s stores. This includes Jil Sander’s +J Collection. Yesterday, I stopped in to the Soho store to take a look at the deals being offered on +J. The markdown is about 30 to 50 percent off the original price.
It’s the last day of the the Jil Sander sample sale and fans continue to turn out. This was the line outside the showroom in Soho Saturday morning. As with the line throughout the week, it moved at a snails pace…
As we mentioned in an earlier post, the Jil Sander sample sale kicked off yesterday morning… Discounts are 80-percent off for handbags and wallets; RTW (spring 2011 collection and the label’s casual luxe line, Navy) clothing and footwear are 85-percent off. Check out the video which we shot Tuesday morning.
A line of Jil Sander fans had formed Tuesday morning outside the label’s showroom on Crosby Street… waiting for the sample sale to start. At first, we thought the line was manageable but we, while only a few feet away from the door, found ourselves waiting an hour after the opening to get upstairs. Sale organizers were only letting in a handful of shoppers at a time. Finally, around 11am, the line started to move a bit but it was still slow going.
The security guard at the door was checking invitations at first but after a couple of hours, he was letting people in without looking for invites.
Jil Sander’s final collaboration collection for Uniqlo made its way into the Japanese retailer’s stores last week. I finally managed to check out the offerings… Outerwear dominates the first shipment of the +J fall/winter 2011 collection with wool & down coats tagged at $229.90, cashmere coats at $349.90. I liked the [...]
To make room for Jil Sander’s fall/winter +J collection (her final collaboration with Uniqlo), the Japanese retailer is clearing out the line’s summer merchandise with a blow-out sale. Sunday afternoon, there were still quite a few deals to be had. More selection for women then men.
