The James Perse sample sale got off to a busy start on Tuesday. Shoppers pretty much queued up all day to get inside the space at 260 Fifth Avenue. This is the first time they’ve held the sale here. As with past sales, there was a lot of merchandise. A stream of shoppers made their way to the sale after work on Tuesday, forming a line outside that moved quickly.
A busy week for sample sales… If shoppers aren’t in line for the Jil Sander sale, they’re waiting to get into the James Perse sample sale in the Flatiron. A couple of our readers just sent us photos (including the price lists) from the sale at 260 Fifth Avenue. One of the photos (above) shows the line at lunchtime today.
With this unbearable heat (it was nearly 100-degrees outside today!), many of us would rather avoid the outdoors, especially New York City’s steamy pavements. If you don’t want to venture out for a sale… you can check a few notable ones online.

If you’re on the hunt for cotton basics… James Perse is hosting a sample sale online for both men & women. Looking through the site today, here’s what we found: Empire sundresses are $74 (were $195), the drawstring boyfriend short is $49 (was $145), the stripe cadet pant is $74 ($195), the basic cargo pant is $59 ($195), the mini jersey crewneck is $29 (was $50), vintage casual tees are $19 ($65), the cropped zip-up hoodie is $74 ($165). If you missed last month’s James Perse sample sale… there’s another one taking place this weekend at NYC’s Flatiron District. Expect to find men’s and women’s clothing at 50 to 80 percent off retail. We found lots of basics (cotton tees, sweaters, jackets and more) at the sale two weeks ago.
