Brooklyn’s Eva Gentry Consignment shop on Atlantic Avenue in Boerum Hill is now offering 40-percent off select merchandise. It’s the end-of-season and there are deals to be had here where you’ll find great vintage and designer castoffs.
This week, the high-end retailers are entering final markdowns to their end-of-season sales. The Saks Fifth Avenue gathered its inventory and began its highly-popular consolidation sale today. Fellow shopper, Laura, went into the store this afternoon and took a look:
I headed over to the Saks consolidation sale (on the 9th floor at Saks through February 12th) to see just how tempting 70% percent discounts could be. Today was the first full day of the sale and the goods already looked stale and picked over.
Before the doors opened this morning for IF Boutique‘s sample sale, a line snaked around the corner of Grand Street. Once everyone was ushered into the basement level, which is where the sale was taking place, it was a mad dash for bargains. Many of the shoppers this morning knew what they were looking for (many appeared to be customers of the store and thus were clued in on the merchandise). Some headed straight for the Ann Demeulemeester rack, some looking for Maison Martin Margiela, while others were on the hunt for the Ivan Grundahl (the label with the most selection and better prices).
The IF Boutique in Soho known for its unparalleled collection of avant-garde clothing for both men and women is holding a sale this week offering up to 70 percent off fall/winter current and past season merchandise.
The East Village boutique, Change of Season (specializes in high-end European designer apparel and accessories) is offering an additional 40 percent off through the end of January. I stopped in last week to see what they had on offer. One of the shop owners, Clinton Curtis, was there to show me some of the pieces he liked, including a stunning cranberry Versace Collection cocktail dress going for $485 (was $1,325), a Viktor & Rolf dress for $595 (was $2,995), a Dries van Noten skirt for $325 (was $980), a Balenciaga cropped size 6 jacket is now $495 (was $2,430), a Prada shirt (men’s) is $245 (was $625), a Maison Martin Margiela sweater for $215. All the sale prices are before the additional discount. Clinton and his partner Marco Querci visit Europe every year around February to find new pieces for their boutique. Before they close up for a month, be sure to check out their end-of-season sale…
Yesterday, sale prices were slashed further at the Barneys Warehouse Sale. Take an extra 50 percent off women’s designer items with the “red” stamp (75% off WHSF stamped items); women’s ready-to-wear is now 50 percent off; women’s shoes is also an additional 40 percent off (BLUE stamped footwear is an extra 60% off).
The Barneys Warehouse Sale is undeniably one of the biggest sales in New York City. It’s always mobbed, especially on the first day. This season was no different as Racked reported this morning while line blogging with the early birds standing in line an hour before the doors opened. I showed up before 10am to find no line. However, the scene inside was madness. No surprise that the women’s shoe section was crowded.
Women shoes can be found in the same place as usual right when you walk in. This time, sale organizers are offering an additional 25 percent off items with the “BLUE” stamp. I spotted a few shoes with the blue stamp, including a Marc Jacobs pump that was already on sale for under $150. I was told that those items are from previous seasons which is why there’s an extra discount. As for the selection in footwear, as usual plenty of designer sandals and heels with a smattering of boots. I spotted a pair of Balenciaga super high heeled gladiators for $500 (my friend picked up the same pair during last winter’s sale for $150). I also saw a few Lanvin pumps from two seasons ago going for $400. There’s a few Loub flat sandals, wedges and heels, Lanvin cut-out slingbacks, Prada wedges, sandals and heels, Chloe, Costume National, Pierre Hardy, Rochas, Robert Clergerie, Stella McCartney, and more. There’s a lot of product and you have to spend the time to really look.
