We’re a bit late getting out our sales roundup for New York City… Take a look at the list below of a few notable ones taking place this week:

Let’s start with the Aloha Rag semi-annual sample sale which kicks off this Thursday.  Shoppers can get up to 85% off new & old stock from current and previous seasons as well as samples from the AR’s house brand.  While sale prices are never as good as we hope at previous sales, we still like to check out this sale since the store features great labels such as Saint Laurent, Balmain, Martin Margiela, Celine and more… Where/When:  545 Greenwich Street, 2A, NY, NY; May 16-19; Daily (12pm-6pm).

Aloha Rag Warehouse Sale: Alaia, Celine, Martin Margiela & More

While the Barneys Warehouse Sale was well underway in Chelsea yesterday, another sale downtown was taking place in a much more chill atmosphere and with soothing Hawaiian music playing in the background.  The Aloha Rag Warehouse Sale is being held inside a warehouse a couple of blocks north of the boutique on Greenwich Street. While the outside and stairwell looked industrial, the actual space was large, airy and bright.

Barneys Warehouse Sale… a Busy Weekend With Further Reductions

The latest markdowns at the Barneys Warehouse Sale brought out the crowds over the weekend to Chelsea.  Women’s designer, shoes, lingerie and swimwear are now an additional 25 percent off the sale price.  The gents are getting a better deal with the discount now at an extra 40 percent off designer duds, sportswear, outerwear (including leather).  Men’s sportscoats, tuxedos and ties are at an additional 25 percent off.  We stopped in on Saturday to find no line but a very crowded scene inside… with shoppers pawing through the racks and shoe stacks.  The sale ends on Sunday… expect even more reductions.

VIDEO: Barneys Warehouse Sale…A look at women’s shoes

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iwA9N58LzDo

I ventured into the Barneys Warehouse Sale before noon today just to scope out the goodies.  I rarely ever buy anything on the first day.  I usually wait for the additional markdowns to take out my wallet.  I found no line when I arrived.  I came with a small bag so I didn’t have to check it in.  Like most of the female shoppers, I made a beeline for women’s shoes.  The aisles were crowded but manageable.

To my surprise, there was actually a pretty good selection in my size (37).  I didn’t find any of the Nicholas Kirkwood for Rodarte, as Racked mentioned in its preview yesterday, in my size or any size other than a 36 and 36 1/2 (I wonder if their reporter bought a pair today).  I spotted a pair of Derek Lam platform boots for $519 (was $1,290), Fendi suede high-heeled boots for $359 (was $900), Proenza Schouler boots for $419 (was $1055), Alexander Wang super-high platform ankle boots for under $500, Celine flats were now $239 (was $610), Proenza Schouler flats were going for $309 (was $775), Marc Jacobs pointy toed flats were $229 and a pair of Prada flats were also under $250.  I had my eye on a pair of Marc Jacobs boots for $359 ($895) but I decided to wait and see what else would show up in the days ahead.  The L-A BWS sale is still going on through February 21st.  Sale organizers usually ship out leftover merchandise from the West Coast and restock the NYC sale.  Let us know if you came out with anything on the first day…

Where/When:  255 W. 17th St. (b/w 7th & 8th Aves).  212-450-8400.  Thurs February 17 to March 6th.  Thurs & Fri (8-9p), Weekends (10-7p), Weekdays (10-9p).

Shoe-Inn Warehouse Sale Redux

When I heard that the Shoe-Inn was holding another warehouse sale, I guess I shouldn’t have been surprised.  They couldn’t sell all of the thousands of pairs of footwear they put out in the last sale, especially when many of them just weren’t worth buying.  Could there actually be buyers for all these awful shoes?

Discount Di who checked out the goods this morning found the sale “overwhelming but calm.”  After digging through the boxes, Di did find something she liked:

I spotted a pair of DVF black suede boots for $179, which now I’m regretting I didn’t buy.  But by the time I got to the other side of the table, I’d already picked up a black pair of Priori leather boots for $121.  There were a lot of sandals in the $49 range, and dressy high heels from $59 and up.  The lowest price seemed to be $49 but, in my opinion, even that was too steep considering the condition of many of the shoes, which looked like they had been worn!
