Through today at 7pm, Barbara Bui is hosting her end-of-season summer sale at her Soho boutique on Wooster Street.  Deals of 70-percent off the original price of the French designer’s spring/summer collection can be had.  I stopped in yesterday evening when there was still a pretty good selection available.
As some of you know (those who have been following this blog for a while), I’m a big fan of Barbara Bui. She usually has some great sample sales. But I was a bit disappointed with this one. I made it to the sale last night when the pickings were pretty slim. One of our readers, “SavvyShopgirl,” who commented below in the tipster report of the sale, found two pairs of boots and told us that she spotted some great pieces. In all likelihood, many of the good stuff may have been sold during the day.
Let’s start with the footwear since that’s what you’ll see when you enter the basement level of the BB boutique where the sale is being held. The selection and sizes were spotty. I found a pair of boots I liked but they didn’t have my size. There were a few ankle booties and knee-length boots ($250 to $400, one pair of black extra long studded boots were going for $600). There were some flats on sale for $100 (patent leather ballet flats, fairly conservative). I also spotted a couple of stilettos for $200. Disappointing handbag selection – only two were on offer – one was a large brown leather hobo for $400.
The Barbara Bui sample sale kicked off this morning. A reader stopped in around Noon today and sent us these photos (mostly of footwear). She reports that dresses are going for $150, sweaters range in price from $30 to $75, pants are from $85 to $200, shoes are ranging from $85 to $100 [...]
As I’ve said before in this blog, I’m a big fan of French designer Barbara Bui‘s cool, classic and clean pieces. I’m hooked on her pants (the fit is perfect) and I love her tailored jackets but the four figure price tag is too much for me. So when she holds a sale, I try to make it. For just two days (sale ends Friday), Bui has marked down her spring/summer 2010 collection (including shoes and handbags) 70 percent off the retail price.
When I stopped in late yesterday, the boutique on Wooster Street looked sparse. Some shelves were bare. A staffer told me that a lot of shoppers had already come in throughout the day and picked through the racks. As a result, many of the smaller sizes had been snapped up. A disappointment for me since I spotted a few knit tops ($100), pants ($150+) and tanks ($50) that I really liked. But my size was not available. A pair of ballet flats in metallic blue ($120) also caught my eye. But once again, not available in my size. A few large handbags were left (mostly black for $600) and a couple of small shoulder bags for about $200. There were still a few things on offer such as jackets for $400+, dresses $300+, pants for $150+ and more, including a limited selection of heels and platforms for around $250.
A friend, one who – like me – is a huge fan of Barbara Bui, was one of the first women to hit the French label’s sample sale this morning. We both love Bui’s clean, classic and timeless pieces. She reports having a great shopping experience and paying a fraction of the cost of Bui’s garments.  She sent us photos along with her review:
I felt like I had the place to myself this morning to search for bargains. There were only a handful of women looking through the racks. The merchandise was up to 90 percent off. A great selection of pants, sweaters, dresses and shoes. Pants were selling anywhere from $75 to $150. Shoes started at $100 and boots were going for $300. Silk sweaters in black, beige and blue were going for $45 to $75. I bought a really nice beige light sweater perfect for the spring nights ahead. The purses were a bit pricey, selling for $675. However, not bad considering the original price was $1,200.
I find the staff at the Barbara Bui sales always so pleasant and helpful unlike many other sample sales. This one is definitely worth the trip.
French designer Barbara Bui is holding a two-day end of season sale offering 70 percent off everything from the 2009 fall collection. A Sally source who found some great deals yesterday morning reports that the sale is well worth checking out.

I’m a huge fan of French designer Barbara Bui. For that reason, I try to hit her sample sales when I can. The designer is holding her fall/winter sample sale this weekend, Sunday is the last day.
