A woman leaving the Gucci friends & family sale had the right sentiment when she said “it’s total chaos. Get me out of here!” Thursday afternoon, not only was there a line to get into the sale, which was being held on the fifth floor of the Metropolitan Pavilion on W.18th Street – there was an even longer wait to pay for your merchandise.
You’ll get up to 90 percent off Gucci watches and jewelry. The I-Gucci men’s watch was going for $590 ($1,295), a few basic Gucci stainless steel watches were tagged at $250 to $300 ($895) the Gucci Signoria are $260 ($1,195), the Gucci Twirls were $250 ($875), the Gucci Chiodo was $250 ($940). As for jewelry, there were sterling silver Gucci logo rings for $150 and heart necklace for $300.

A floor down was the Armani warehouse sale which was much more manageable. Men’s and women’s clothing and accessories are up to 75 percent off. There was so much stuff. What really caught my eye were the blazers and jackets. I spotted a very modern gray long leather jacket on sale for $2,400 ($9,650), I also saw a basic Giorgio Armani black blazer for $225 ($895) – much more reasonable. There were dresses starting at $200, knits starting at $50, pants going from $200+ and more. The shoes were so-so, mostly sandals and heels for under $200, and a few flats going for $98. No boots. The handbags were mixed – nothing jumped at me. The medium and large leather bags were on sale from $400+.
As for men, there were blazers from $300+, shirts, pants, some jeans and knits under from $100 to $200. A limited selection of shoes, loafers and sneakers were going for under $200.
Here’s the breakdown in pricing:Â Giorgio Armani is 75 percent off the price on the tag; Emporio Armani is 65 percent off and Armani Jeans 65 percent off.
