Brooklyn Flea is back…

A sure sign that spring has sprung… On this perfect Saturday after such a long winter, Brownstoner’s Brooklyn flea in Ft. Greene returned this season.  With the 70-degree weather, I didn’t need a jacket to browse the wares of more than 150 vendors selling outside Bishop Loughlin Memorial High School.  This huge flea market – one that could be Brooklyn’s largest – is not your run-of-the-mill mart, hawking tube socks and old magazines.  Look for an assortment of vintage clothes, haute couture, collectibles and furniture as well as new jewelry, art and crafts by local artisans.

Vintage Worthy: Dumbo Winter Pop-up Market

 

I finally made it to Dumbo’s pop-up flea market.  A gorgeous day.  The stuff for sale did not disappoint.  Lots of vintage. One vendor was selling French bakelite for $30 each.  Not bad.  I had my eye on the bracelets and a lovely straw handbag ($55) perfect for the warm months ahead.  No purchases this time – just wanted to scope out the place.  Planning to head back next weekend.
