New York’s downtown boutique Oak continues its 30/40/50 winter sale… This week, the cutting edge retailer is offering at least 30-percent off its current fall/winter merchandise. If you’re familiar with the sale, the markdown gets better with the passing of time. The event caps off with a sample sale where everything is at 70-percent off.

When I saw the massive line last night at the YSL sale, I thought I head downtown instead. In Nolita, Want Agency is hosting its semi-annual designer sample sale and the scene there was calm. Just a few shoppers who were clearly fans of the Swedish brands on offer. They include Acne, Filippa K, Nudie Jeans, Want Les Essentiels de la Vie, and Swims.

As we head into mid-summer… Brooklyn’s chain boutique, Bird, is now offering up to 75 percent off its spring/summer merchandise. The deals are being offered at the store locations in Cobble Hill, Park Slope and Williamsburg… as well as online. In surveying on Bird’s e-commerce site, we found quite a number [...]

The Brooklyn boutique chain Bird is now offering up to 60 percent off its current spring/summer merchandise. I stopped into the Park Slope store earlier this week to find tons of stuff.

Check out the massive line outside the Opening Ceremony sample sale which kicked off at 11am today… If you’re wondering whether you should brave the wait… we have an inside look from The Feast reporter, Tiffany Davis who stopped into last night’s preview despite the torrential downpours.  Good news… she reports plenty of great finds in the 90-percent off range:
Not only is the Lafayette Street venue huge, but it’s packed with brands that seasoned O.C. shoppers would expect (Patrick Ervell, Acne, Cacharel) and a few fantastic surprises (such as the Versace dress pictured below)….

As for the rest of the sale, here’s Tiffany’s rundown. Sale runs through this Sunday.

The Nolita boutique Creatures of Comfort is holding a blowout sale this weekend, offering up to 90 percent off indie faves, including Acne, Christian Wijnants, Rachel Comey, Bernhard Willhelm, Henrik Vibskov, Wren and more… Sample Sale Diva checked out that sale after hitting up the James Perse sale yesterday. Here’s her report:
…I saw so many great stuff there. My favorite was a grey Rick Owens skirt for $140 which I did not purchase but admired from afar. The discounts ranged in different price points. Starting at $15 for Creatures of Comfort tanks. They were inside large boxes along with the Creatures of Comfort tops ($25) and dresses ($35). I also found Zero + Maria Cornejo, VPL, Alexander Wang (also the T line), Zucca, MM6, Rachel Comey. The most expensive that I saw was a Zero + Maria Cornejo shawl tagged at $789. There was alot of Repetto shoes for $120, and I saw these nice VPL boots for $240 (size 41). I ended up getting a VPL top for $45, an MM6 sweater for $92 and VPL undies for $12.
January is really a great time to find deals… as stores offload their winter wares. Oak NYC is no exception. If you’re into edgy and avant-garde, head over to one of their NYC stores. Sample Sale Diva made her way to the Noho store on Bond St. (The Diva took a brief break over the holidays. We’re so glad she’s back to checking out sales). The Diva sent us photos and deets of the sale where fall/winter pieces are 60 percent off:
…they had some really good stuff on sale. Most of the men’s and women’ clothes are ranging in price from $20 to $200. I got wool Alexander Wang leggings for $117 (originally $300). I didn’t see them at the sample sale so I picked them up here. Funny, tho, the T by Alexander Wang pieces that I paid $35 for last month were selling for $150 here. There are a mix of brands but I saw mostly Oak’s main line as well as the label’s diffusion line, A.Oak on sale. There were merchandise from Cheap Monday, Kill City, T by Alexander Wang and Alexander Wang (as mentioned before), Pleasure Principle and others. I came out with a pair of Vera Wang boots for $152 ($382), the AW leggings, a Brian Lichtenberg shirt for $24, a pair of wool A.OK gloves for $14 and a cool grey coat with a hood for $51.
At the Bond Street store, the sale is being held in the basement level. The Diva tells us there’s actually more stuff on Oak NYC’s website than at the store. If you don’t want to trek out to one of the Oak NYC shops, check their sale pieces online.
