As I mentioned in my earlier post, this season’s Barneys Warehouse Sale is a letdown! The selection of goods (I only had a chance to look at women’s stuff) is dwarfed compared to previous sales. In particular, designer merchandise. There really wasn’t much of the good stuff to be had… Let’s start with the footwear since that’s always been the popular draw at these sales.

This week’s cold blast is a reminder that we still have months to go before spring arrives… with all the end-of-season sales all over town, this is the time to get your winter wardrobe into shape.
One place to stock up on chic hip toasty things is Otte NYC where you can score an additional 40-percent off sale merchandise. The boutique has several locations in Manhattan. Plus, the sale can also be had online (just enter the code EXTRA40 at checkout). (The online sale expired on Tuesday, Jan 3rd.)

Now that the warm weather has finally arrived, a number of retailers are kicking off the summer with markdowns… Here’s a few worth noting:

East Village shops, Odin and Pas de Deux‘s end-of-season sale is just that… merchandise from the previous season. The sale is being held at an open ground floor space on First Avenue, a few blocks from the two boutiques. I found a real mix of merchandise, many of the pieces I saw at Pas de Deux a few months back. They had a Vanessa Bruno coat $219 in size 40 (one that I had my eye on at the store back in the fall) a Vanessa Bruno blazer for $169, a Magiela MM6 sweat shirt for $99, a knubby Engineered Garments blazer for under $200, Alexander Wang leather Chukka Bootie in size 38 for $258, Woman by Common Projects knee-length boots for $199, Loeffler Randall‘s Kylie strappy heels for $99.

There’s plenty of basics for men (button-down shirts starting at $59 (lots of Edward shirts for $79), jeans and cotton pants for under $100, Rag & Bone cotton jackets starting at $149, a Phillip Lim wool duffle coat in XL for $299, Florsheim by Duckie Brown and more). Sale goes through this Sunday.
