Women’s merchandise dominates the Rodarte sample sale in the Flatiron… and ladies who are size small will do well here. We’ve gotten reports that a line had formed outside the Ace Hotel suite this morning. Apparently, they’re only letting in people as others leave. That’s due to the small hotel room, the same one they’ve held sales in the past.
When I checked out the sale during Friday’s VIP preview, Andy and his helpers filled the room with so much merchandise. There were lots of pieces from the Rodarte x Opening Ceremony collaboration – from the “dusty landscapes” spring 2012 collection. Some of the pieces were quite affordable such as tops for $100, a leather jumper dress for $200, patent leather skirts for $75, a burgundy pleather skirt for $60 and a cable-knit sweater set (top & skirt) for $200. Speaking of sweaters, they can be found in a box for $100. Although, inside another box were more elaborate sweaters, which were also more pricey at around $1,200. There were a few runway pieces (such as a top for $1,000+). A current season 50s-style silk dress (black/white) stood out to a couple of shoppers but the $600 (wholesale for $1,200) was a bit too steep for them. Also on offer were a few styles of the current season shearling jackets – the cropped was on sale for around $1,000 (retailed for $2,875). There were several other styled coats trimmed with fake fur; one of them a black wool military style was $175.
There were also lots of shoes (heels mostly) – all but a few styles were size 7 and tagged at $100. In boxes near the windows were sweatshirts ($80) and tees ($60). In addition, a few pieces from other collaborations (such a Target and the Gap) can be had, some for just $10.
As for the gents, there really wasn’t much there just a handful of pants, several blazers ($150, size small) and a few sweaters and cardigans in a box. Plus, the sweatshirts and tees.
