The Italian handbag maker Furla was taking up to 70 percent off handbags, shoes, and accessories on April 22-23rd. There were a lot of 80's inspired bags - an ongoing trend that won't go away. Not a lot of stuff at the sale caught my eye, except for a red hobo with silver straps - the $395 price tag was a bit costly for what it was.
I bought my first Francesco Biasia handbag in Rome before they were available in New York. Back then, I didn't know what I had. I just knew that it was a chic Italian-made handbag of exquisite leather. When I travel abroad, I try to look for interesting unique things that can't be found here. Of course, when I learned about this week's Francesco Biasia sale, I h[...]
A sure sign that spring has sprung... On this perfect Saturday after such a long winter, Brownstoner's Brooklyn flea in Ft. Greene returned this season. With the 70-degree weather, I didn't need a jacket to browse the wares of more than 150 vendors selling outside Bishop Loughlin Memorial High School. This huge flea market - one that could be Brooklyn's largest - [...]

The Kooba sale is worth it if you're a fan of the handbags. The place was crowded when I stopped in after work with evidence of a buying frenzy. Women were digging into boxes - some of them clutching at least five bags. A long line had formed at the cash register. Most items were marked under $200; large handbags between $150-$225 and small ones priced[...]
A line had formed outside the J.Crew sample sale when I arrived around 6pm tonight. Inside, it was crammed with women going through racks of sweaters ($30-60), shirts ($30) and dresses ($60). I went to see if I could score a cashmere sweater. I wasn't in the mood for looking through the racks of mostly samples. SAMPLE written in black marker inside the [...]
The popular Brit retail store finally made it here from across the pond. The insanity and media hype on April 2nd when it flung its doors open was unbelievable. The Soho location is a massive space -- four-story, 40,000-square-foot on Broadway and Broome. I've been to Topshop in London when I use to live there. The store's mobbed Oxford Circus flagship hawks a[...]
