A line had formed outside the J.Crew sample sale when I arrived around 6pm tonight. Inside, it was crammed with women going through racks of sweaters ($30-60), shirts ($30) and dresses ($60).  I went to see if I could score a cashmere sweater.  I wasn’t in the mood for looking through the racks of mostly samples.  SAMPLE written in black marker inside the back of shirts and sweaters.  There wasn’t much order to the clothing.  It would have been better if they sized everything.  If you have the time and patience, there appeared to be a lot of cute summery and brightly-colored merchandise.  This is J.Crew’s third sample sale of the season – women’s, men’s and children’s wear.

Tonight’s mob scene shows there’s still a lot of takers.  This particular shopper didn’t want to wait in line to pay for my three cashmere sweater finds.  Instead, I decided to browse the J.Crew online site for sales.  That’s where I’ve always found my J.Crew deals.

Where: Clothingline, 261 W.  36th Street (between 7th/8th Ave) 2nd Floor; M-F 10-7p.  April 13-17th.
