With the increasing amount of sample sales popping up around New York City, you may wonder which ones are worth your time. One of our contributors, Mushkie, attended the German luxury leather goods, MCM, sample sale in Soho to find out if that sale is worth it. Here’s what she had to say:

“At 930am Wednesday,  there was already a line of 45+ lined up for the MCM sample sale. When the doors opened at 11am, the line was down the block to the corner. Many shoppers were excited for this sale but alas it was very disappointing. Last time around, there were more styles and colors available and discounts were higher.

Belts are $148. Footwear is unisex but it’s mostly for men and is 50%-60% off. Backpacks are 30% off. Briefcase, messenger bags, weekender, and waist bags are 50% off; 40% off bowling, clutch, cross-body, hobos, drawstring, satchel, totes, and shoulder bags.

Take 70% off Munich, cubism, Mona, and Perla. Leather goods including wallets, card holders, passport holders are 40% off.

There are signs all over saying no photography and staff is constantly reprimanding shoppers who try to take pictures. That’s why we don’t have many photos for this review.

My advise is to skip the wait on line and wait for additional markdowns before heading to this sample sale.” – Mushkie of Holy in Mundane
