March 8th is International Women’s Day, a holiday now more than a century old. This year’s theme is “Be Bold For Change.”

The organizers behind the Women’s March in D.C. have coordinated ‘A Day Without a Woman’ strike, urging women to take a day off from paid or unpaid work. However, this may not be an option for many of us. If you can’t take the day off, there are ways you can still participate.

Several magazines have put together a guide. They include Vogue (click here), New York Magazine’s The Cut (here), Man Repeller (here), Glamour (here) and there’s more on the web. Suggestions include attending rallies, livestream videos of protest, wear red and don’t shop (or if you must, support local, women-owned businesses such as Bird Brooklyn who will donate 100% of its proceeds from today to a women’s organization).
