I found this weekend’s Escada sale at Chelsea’s Metropolitan Pavilion pretty much a waste of time.  The offerings of the uber prestigious brand are frumpy – not fabulous.  I’ve attended other Escada sales where there were racks of elegant and tasteful clothing.  This one was a letdown – one of the worst sales I have ever been to.  What a shame that the large space appeared to be filled with castoffs from seasons past.  Most everything was 75% off the ticketed price – still too costly considering some of the clothing had a price tag of well over $1000 before the discount.  For those looking for a bargain, there were samples and damaged goods for under $100.  Shoes and other accessories were also up for grabs, but not worth considering.  I didn’t see anything worthy of purchase.

Where/When: The Altman Building, 135 W. 18th St., nr. Sixth Ave. Fri 10-8pm, Sat 10-6pm, Sun 10-5pm May 15 to 17
