Brookyn based women’s footwear brand, Grey Matters, is known for sculptural mid-heel glove shoes and ankle booties. The founder and creative director Silvia Avanzi launched her line in 2016 and the footwear have become coveted pieces – chic and attention-getting. We love Gray Matters’s block-heeled pairs.

Today, we stopped into the brand’s sample sale at 45 Lispenard St. just south of Canal. The space looks like a popup/showroom. It’s clean, white walls and white tables where the footwear is displayed.

The bargains here are the samples some are one-of-a-kind never making it into production. The only catch is most of them are size 37 but a few 38s and 39s. The sample are $100 to $250.

Also available are shoes from the spring collection. There’s a good selection of styles and sizes. Just ask the sales associate for your size and the price which is about 50% off and less. For example, one of the brand’s classics, the Mildred is $260 (orig. $450) and the Lulu boot is $295 (orig. $610).
