Mark your calendars, the dates have been revealed for the Barneys Warehouse Sale… Racked’s inside sources reports the sale is expected to start on Thursday, February 16th.

If you want to get an idea of what’s in store, check out the current sale section either in-stores or online where items are now up to 75-percent off.  When I was at the Madison Avenue store earlier this month, there were plenty of designer shoes to be had.   BTW, that’s where the discounts will begin at the start of the BWS.

Most of you already know the drill:  the selection is better the first few days.  If you wait a few days, you’ll get better deals when the price slashing starts… culminating to the best deals on the last days of the sale.  As for the west coast, the sale returns to the LA Convention Center, February 11 – 20.

If you’ve ever been to ABC Carpet & Home near Union Square, you’ll know that it’s full of great stuff for your home as well as your closets…  Through Sunday, January 22^nd, the huge emporium is hosting its end-of-season sale.  While the signs say “up to 75-percent off,” most of the items I spotted were marked down 30-50% off the original price.

There are some great deals to be had here… from the usual and unique furniture, rugs, linens to original jewelry, garments, bags, accessories and so much more… The massive location on Broadway and 19^th Street was busy over the weekend with customers on the lookout for deals.  Even if you aren’t looking for anything specific, you’re bound to find something that catches your eye on one of the many floors in the building.

Just days before Christmas… and retailers are offering holiday discounts.  One of them, Barneys where its now at the second markdown at up to 60-percent off selected items…

I quickly scoped out the Madison Avenue store last night (scanning the sales on designer handbags and shoes).  Some of the sale items I spotted include the following:  Madam Lanvin small shoulder bag for $839 (was $2,097), Marc Jacobs blue textured leather Eddie Satchel for $799 (was $1,995), Proenza Schouler shopping tote for $369 ($615).  There was a fairly good selection of designer shoes, including Christian Louboutin satin/rhinestone pumps (now $809, was $1350),  Chanel platforms (now  $555, was $925),  Prada two-tone slingbacks (now $329, was $650), Prada black patent leather flats (now $289, was $570), and a pair of  Nicholas Kirkwood for Rodarte (now $569, was $1,425).

The discount at Saks Fifth Avenue is also up to 60-percent off… As Mizhattan tells us, wait until after this Sunday and you’ll get even better deals when the store kicks off its post-Christmas sale on Monday, December 26th when the markdown is up to 70 percent off and 50-percent off sale items.  If you can’t make it into the store, the post-Christmas sale starts online on December 25th at 12:01am (ends the next day at 11:59pm).

At Bloomingdales, the Holiday sale is now at 25 to 50 percent off select items.  Bloomies “insiders” get an extra 15-percent off on regular and sale items if they use their Bloomingdales card.

This year, Thom [...]]]> Every year, the Housing Works hosts a major fundraiser called Fashion for Action where you can shop for a good cause. The shopping event offers 50 to 70 percent off the retail price of more than 150 brands (some of them high end designers who have donated overstock).

This year, Thom Browne and Co-Chairs Patricia Clarkson, Eva Jeanbart-Lorenzotti, and Rachel Roy kick off the fundraiser with a VIP shopping preview and cocktail party next week at Chelsea’s Altman Building. Check out the video (above) we shot of last year’s opening reception.

At the sale, you’ll find the iconic Aalto stool (basic is $159, was $295) as well as arm chairs (Pierre Frey blue arm chair is $1,773, was $2995; Mademoiselle chair is now $570, was $950), coat stands (is now $788, was $1,575), side tables, lighting and more at 60-percent off the original retail price. Let’s get to the point…  In my opinion, this season’s Hermes sale has really gone downhill… a real disappointment. If you’re looking for scarves or handbags, forget it!  The selection for accessories, especially the signature scarves was non-existent (only a handful of large unappealing silk and wool scarves).

For me, the last sale (back in March) was not fabulous… I found the selection earlier this year disappointing and the discounts dissatisfying.  Madison Avenue Spy sent her spies to the press preview and reports that it’s not worth it.  Apparently, there were NO scarves and no handbags other than the “Garden Party.”  What a let down!

Through the end of the month, Housing Works Thrift Shops is hosting it’s annual “Best of Fall” shopping events… where you can get deals on used furniture, fashion and artwork.

Yesterday evening’s downpour didn’t dissuade hardcore shoppers from showing up at the Chelsea location.  At 6pm, it was packed and there was a line at the register.   If you’re willing to dig through the stuff (and there’s a lot of stuff), you’re likely to find some gems… anything from a Herman Miller chair ($175) to a Prada knit top ($50) – items that caught my eye last night.

Every Fall, Housing Works puts together this blow-out shopping event, emptying stores to re-stock them with the best of what’s donated to them throughout the year.  The proceeds from the stores go to help the homeless and those suffering with AIDS in New York City.  For the schedule, locations, and hours click here.  If you can’t get to one of the stores in NYC, you can also check out the sale online.

With the sale ending in a few days, the Barneys Warehouse Sale has slashed sale prices further for the Holiday weekend… Check out the complete price list above.  The selection is pretty much picked over.  But if you’re willing (and in the mood) to dig through the merchandise, you might find a few things.

Women’s designer, RTW, shoes and accessories are now an extra 40-percent off.  I spent a few minutes (not a lot of time, I just wasn’t in the mood) looking through the offerings and I just couldn’t find anything I wanted in the women’s section.  As for men, suits are now an additional 25 percent off as well as shoes.  Dress shirts and ties are now at an extra 40 percent off.  It’s very likely that they’ll offer even further reductions before the end of the sale.
