Chic Ready-to-Wear at the Vera Wang Sale

Elegant and artsy is what came to mind when I entered the Vera Wang showroom in Midtown to survey the garments hanging from racks in the spacious loft.  Wang - known for her popular bridal collection - held a sample sale of her spring ready-to-wear line. Wang is a high-end designer and the clothing reflects that.  There were some amazing dresses at this sale -- i[...]

Joint Sample Sale: Julie Haus & Gustto

The sale was hopping with shoppers when I stopped by after work on Wednesday.  Many of the women were on a quest to find something for the season or a special occasion.  I overheard one woman tell her friend she was looking for a dress for a cocktail party.  This was the place to find it.  The showroom was well stocked with clothing by New York City based fashion d[...]

New Shipment at Theory's Womenswear Sale

For those of you who still have a job and are looking to bulk up your business wardrobe or if you're sprucing up for that important interview, the Theory sample sale in the Garment District is the place to go.  Clothingline opened its doors a day early last week on Thursday for the sale.  Despite the surprise opening, the space was mobbed with long lines to try on t[...]

There were also skirts ($40), jackets ($85) and some knitwear ($35) - plus fabric handbags ($50).  Some of To[...]

Steven Alan sale in Tribeca gets a thumbs up... thru May 17

The reports about the Steven Alan sale in Tribeca are good.  The crowd is apparently smaller and the pricing better this time around.  Racked reports pricing for the designer's own line:  women's short-sleeved shirts are going for $48, long-sleeved for $58. Women's jackets from $50 to $125, cotton dresses are $99, and skirts and shorts are $50 to $70. The menswear[...]
