For those of you who weren’t too thrilled with the sale prices at the Zadig & Voltaire sample sale, this last day brings additional markdowns. We’re told an extra 30% off is being given on top of the sale prices. Not sure what’s left… but head over if you’re looking to do last-minute shopping before the storm hits. Doors close today at 6pm.

The Paul Smith sample sale is taking place in a generic Soho storefront on West Broadway. The doors opened to the public on Thursday and by the end of the day, the merchandise was pretty much picked through. This is one of those sales where you have to get there early… Fashionable Femme Jen sums it up pretty well:
When I think of Paul Smith, I think of colorful stripes, austere lines, tidy prints and organization. When I walk into the sample sale this evening, what I see is everything but. The table of $25 cufflinks is reduced to orphan stragglers, home goods are all but existent, women’s product is picked over and shoes are severely depleted, revealing bare shelves. Though the sale spans two floors, there was more chaos than merchandise.
The sample sale season has certainly kicked into high gear… Today, Paris-brand Zadig & Voltaire begins its 4-day sample sale at 260 Fifth Avenue. Yesterday evening, I attended the preview with a friend who’s a big fan of the rock-and-roll brand. The atmosphere was chill last night and I loved the classic tunes they were playing… (think “September” by Earth, Wind & Fire).
Like many of you, I knew the wait to get inside the YSL sale would be long. It’s one of those sales on the radar of every fashionable woman and man in New York City. Plus, it’s been rumored to be one of the last such sales for the label. For these reasons, I wanted to take part so I took the day off, got up bright and early to stand in line. A friend joined me and if it wasn’t for her, I don’t think I would have stuck it out.
I’ve been going to the Jil Sander sample sale for quite a number of seasons now. In the past, I’ve had to spend a couple of hours waiting in line on the first official day of the sale. This time, I managed to make it into Monday’s preview. I must say what a difference! No line and the space was calm, except for a handful of shoppers.
A couple of noteworthy sales upcoming later this month… the first, one of my fave brands and sample sales takes place next week. We got word from the folks at Jil Sander that they’ll be hosting a sample sale starting next Tuesday. Another chance at getting your hands on designer Raf Simons creations at a fraction of the cost. Be forewarned, the sale does draw a huge crowd where fans are willing to wait hours. On the first day of the last sale back in April, Larry Label Whore waited five hours! By the time I made it inside, the selection was already getting picked through. Due note: this is supposed to be an invite-only sale but in the past, security stopped checking a few hours after the sale started. Also, as in the past, expect to find mostly overstock from the last collection (spring/summer 2012).
