As some of you may have heard, the Police broke up the Salvatore Ferragamo sample sale earlier this week in Secaucus, New Jersey. Our insider, Larry Label was there shopping with his mother and witnessed the pandemonium first hand. Here’s his account of the mayhem:
I got there with my mother bright and early at 7:30am. More than three dozen shoppers were in front of us. As time went by, more and more people started lining up. Before I knew it, the line was down the block. This was the start of a crazy morning because there was absolutely NO security to manage the line!!
We were with the first group of 50 to be let into the sale. We all were excited to be inside the warehouse. There were clothes, men’s shoes, and scarves in one room and bags, women’s shoes, and accessories in the other room. Men’s shoes were $139 and women’s were $89. I have to say the selection wasn’t that great. There was no sign of the signature Ferragamo shoes I was hoping to score. The footwear selection appeared to be overstock from past seasons. Men’s bags were also not a good selection with most going for an over-priced $699. Same goes for women’s bags with prices at least $400-$500.
While we were busy shopping, the staffers started telling everyone to get on line to pay because they needed to clear the space. We lined up at the cash registers… Then, the cops showed up, yelling at people, pushing and shoving us. They threatened to throw us all in jail. I turned my head and saw a cop handcuff a girl on the floor. In the midst of all this chaos, we asked one cop why this was happening. He told us it was because of an illegal permit (which Ferragamo denies). In the end, no one was able to get anything. We had to put down our purchases and leave.
Once home, my mother and I called Ferragamo to complain about what happened and we got the rudest customer service representative I have ever dealt with in my life. He not only berated us on the phone, but told us it was the people’s fault this happened!! Even though Ferragamo didn’t supply enough security or staff to man the sale. Needless to say, it was an overall stressful experience.
The Ferragamo sale was scheduled to take place through this Sunday (Nov 20) but there’s no word on whether they’ve reopened the space since the Police closed them down on Tuesday.

First Ferragamo company has invited too many people, then couldn’t handle big crowd, then had called police for help, then police roughly and inconsiderately had threw out everybody, who were waiting in line for many hours! All of this is offensive and humiliating! I SHALL NEVER BUY FERRAGAMO AGAIN!
