Skunkfunk Store Closing

The Lower East Side shop, Skunkfunk, is closing its doors at the end of the month. Fashionable Femme Jen is a fan of the Spanish brand (think fun funky affordable clothing). Jen stopped in over the weekend and gives us her report:

One of the first stores I began frequenting 4 years ago as a new implant in the LES is Skunfunk. Initially drawn in by the promise of stylish, eco-friendly clothing, I immediately fell in love with the assymetrical cuts and appealing color combinations of the brand’s handbags and apparel. Unfortunately, closing time is imminent. Fans of the brand have one week to enjoy 60-80% savings at the Orchard street location after which, the retail boutique will shutter. Fortunately, Skunk Funk will still be available as a mini shop inside the 12 Lions Studio in Noho.

Currently, samples are being liquidated with tops going at $20, $30 for bottoms, $40 for sweaters/dresses and $50-$70 for jackets/coats. Notable women’s sample items are a fuschia cowl neck sweater with kimono sleeves for $40 and a bright red and orange houndstooth jacket from the Fall/Winter 2012 collection.

The rest of the store is 60% off ticketed price, with some men’s items at 80% off. Handbags are included in the discount! Additionally, past season merchandise is a different discount. Tanks are $10 and everything else is priced the same as samples. Highlights in handbags include a red crossbody bag with a parrot for $27.80 (orig. $69) and a white canvas convertible shoulder/crossbody bag with green and black print and a black pleather pocket for $38 (orig. $95). Notable apparel includes a black and white striped dress for $36.80 (60% off a sale price of $92) and a white tank dress with a purple and blue pattern down the front for $70 (orig. $175).

Sizing ranges from 0-5 and there is still variety across the spectrum. Changing rooms are available for try-ons. Stop in and grab some goodies before this funky European brand closes its doors.
