Now that there’s just a few more days left of the Barney’s Warehouse Sale… the serious price slashing is underway. But what does the selection look like? Fashionable Femme Jen stopped in last night and had a look. Here’s what she found:
Prices are slowly decreasing at the Barney’s sale, and so is the quality and selection. Well, almost. Most Women’s clothing, sportswear, accessories, home and children’s merchandise is now 60% off. Shoes are50% off. Designer is 40% off. There is certainly an abundance of imperfect merchandise laden with holes!! Most racks were looking severely picked over.
If you have the time and the stamina, there still may be a couple items that may be worth the while it will take to find them. In the shoe section, I see a pair of Size 36.5 black suede Marni heels with white detail on the heel for $149.50 (after the 50% discount) and a decent pair of Bottega Veneta cream pumps with a silver glitter heel on sale for $199.50 (after the 50% discount). I wanted to bring home a pair of the laced wellies… if only they had my size!
In the middle section, there are still heaps of Barney’s house brand bags–simple leather, studded, haircalf and neon reptile print. Off to the side, there is a shelf full of black L’Wren Scott Lulu bags and a L’Wren Scott Lady Laque Lace Pouchette. In the mix, there is a White + Tan + Gold Marc Jacobs Lizard Skin bag for over $1000. Nothing here to write home about.
In the denim section, sizing starts at 23. I see a pair of black J brand skinny cords for $79. In the clothing section, nothing really jumps out. There are a lot of clothes, but most of it looks like seasons past, damaged or returned clothing. One highlight is a Derek Lam white 3/4 length knit for $54.50 (after discount). On the designer side, I see a baby blue size 8 Zac Posen gown for $641.40 (after 40% discount) and a white sleeveless Missoni gown with sequins for $784.20 (after 40% discount). There’s some past season Altruzza present. Passing by the kids section, I see an adorable Bonpoint Size 6 blue seersucker blazer for a little boy for $55 (after 50% discount). All in all, the pricing is getting better, but the selection surely is not. I leave empty handed, hoping prices will drop further by Monday.
Where/When:255 W. 17th Street. Thru Sept 3rd. Thurs Aug 30 (9-9p), Sept 1-2 (9-8p), Sept 3 (9-7p).

I was told this sale would be EXTENDED until Wednesday, so don’t expect bottom pricing until after Labor Day. Or I would assume. IMO there’s still a decent selection for men’s. Lots of stock and key designer pieces. Was lucky enough to find an imperfect (60% off) pair of Lanvin black leather pants for $400 (approx $3200.) Tons of shirts/sweaters left in varying degrees of style. Same with trousers, which I’ve been eyeing a nice pair of Navy Margaret Howells. A few incredible overcoats (Boglioli, Piombo, Lanvin, Prorsum), excellent red-tag suits by Andrea Campagna, Isaia, Michael Bastian etc. I’m sure this weekend will deplete stock immensely but so far so good for men.
Any update on the markdowns on Saturday? Any changes since yesterday?
any update on further reductions on saturday? wondering if a trip into the city is worth it.
Not surprised there is still a lot of merch left. When are they going to learn that the merchandise and prices for this sale have become awful?!?!
I heard the sale was going to be extended as well… Might be worth checking back Monday or Tuesday!
The sale was extended to Wednesday. Has there been any further reductions after the weekend?
I was there today and everything was either ugly or overpriced in my opinion. Almost everything in menswear was at least $100-200 more then I wanted to spend. Even with the extra discounts, dress shirts were in the $150-$300 mark. There was also a nauseating amount of overpriced suits. Not good. I did, though, manage to snag a Barneys branded tie for just over $27 down from $135.
This is my first, and probably last trip ever to the sale.
The Barneys website says the sale is extended until TUESDAY. Where are you hearing Wednesday?
As for the selection, I was there yesterday and the women’s section was just appalling. I saw a dress that I’ve seen at the last three sales – this time the price has been jacked up from about $100 after discounts to over $1200 on the “price as marked” rack. They can’t give this junk away! Time to start selling it by the pound.
I stopped by the mob scene monday afternoon (labor day). Pricing is 75% off for most women’s items. Shoes are 60% off. Looks like the sale has been extended until Sept 4.
Hi, does anyone know what is the discount on kids’ stuff and women’s shoes? Thank you!!
Kids’ stuff is 75% off and Women’s shoes is 60% off
kids stuff was 75% off and women’s shoes was 60% when I went today.
