Next Monday, the German luxury fashion house, Hugo Boss, will be hosting its spring/summer collection sample sale at its showroom in the far west end of Chelsea. We don’t have details on the markdowns but the sale will feature pieces from both men’s & women’s collections. Larry Label Whore checked out the sale at 260 Fifth Avenue earlier this year. Most of the offerings there was overstock. This time, expect to find a better selection since it’s being held at the showroom.

I checked out Hugo Boss this AM mostly looked at women’s clothing. I only found size 4 in clothing and size 37 in shoes. Prices as follows: Coats $185, blazers $100, denim (size 28) $40, fur and leather $280. Very few boots left $110, pumps $60, flats $30. Belts and scarves $20. Men’s stuff looked great but can’t tell you the prices except that the sweaters were $60. Overall, it’s a man’s clothing world at this sale.

Almost all the good stuffs are gone in the first two hours of this sale. Everything will most likely be empty by tomorrow.

The sale was good for shoes I thought and yes, men’s stuff were bountiful but not so much in the popular shoe sizes. Mostly 10s!

It was a great sale! But yes, tons of hoarders. When I walked in (maybe 9:50) there was a guy walking out with a full trashbag full of the men’s bags. Needless to say, I saw no bags left once inside. Line was tolerable. Hoarders were picking up things with no regard for size, just piling everything into massive bags. Beautiful mens dress shoes, almost all were 9 or 10 though, a few 8s. Men’s hoodies/zip-ups/polos were $30. Knits were $60. Gift-boxed vanilla scented candles at checkout were $5. A good majority of the mens items were in size Large, not so many Mediums. Women’s shoes were great quality but pretty much only size 37, I saw a couple of 39s with slightly worn soles. I saw one size 38 sandal. Men’s belts all seemed to be size 34.
Soiffer Haskin is having the same Hugo Boss sale starting 10/6. Could someone tell me whether the merchandise and price is similar for both? Thanks!
Connie – You’re absolutely right. The Soiffer sale starts this Saturday. As for pricing, doubt that the markdowns will be as good as what people are reporting at the showroom. I find that SH tends to start out with so-so markdowns and will slash sale prices as the sale goes on…
